strip led run hot or soft what layout

27 watts each on the 4ft strips is nominal. So 29 watts each would need a heatsink and would run "hot". You would want to double or triple the amount of strips to run um soft. Double the strips would not need a heatsink and triple the strips would never go out or get hot.
I know I thought this as well but I am running 27w on the strips. With no heat sink they don't even get warm at all. I am sure 29W would be fine with a bit of aluminum I should w no doubt in my mind at all.

that's only running 750ma compared to 700ma nominal

I run 28 strips for 756W at the moment.

dude if I was you I'd go eb gen 3. Future electronic has the normal eb gen 3 non slim. But even the slim I'd take over the eb gen 2. I mean the cost of the gen 2 is almost the same as the gen 3. Seems a shame to go with the old strip when the new one pretty much cost the same.

I’m not sure if it’s worth mentioning, Sammy q series were lower in price @ $7 this past weekend on arrow. I had them bookmarked for a reason, must of been on my watch list at some point. They are usually closer to $13 each.

At least I think they are Q series..

also these bridgelux, not sure what they are but been $3 each for awhile now.

soul rocket knows his stuff normaly and he said to me ''If you can avoid the gen3 slim version, it's very floppy and not nice to work with and shitty connectors. '' so i was avoiding the gen 3 and assumed gen 2 was better then, but are you saying he referes here to slim only,, the normal ones are gen3? but u say use gen 2 slim also? find conflicting views on thisone and not many gen3 build guides kinda made me believe the latter..

u have a756w model strip gen2 woo first guy alive with 1 lol, what size room u growing in buddy? any pics ? really interested as most peeps seem to be making 2x2ft cabs n stuff or giant bloody rooms, complicated builds with tek writups i cants keep up with on spectrums forward voltage and stuff lol,

id love to hear about ur grow/led etc

@J232 haha man thats mad as hahaha like the ghetto way i can see my friend doing lol i cant imagin 1 light with 9 drivers lol doesnt that get hot?
its genius ofc i love it lol but seems strange ,
i think id spend more n get 1 driver but if it works .... it works eh how do ur plants look flower? what yield ya pullin off 9 drivers

Those bridge lux are the gen 1 lol. If you buy the gen 3 4 footer you are already less than $12/4ft so it's not really a deal.

I think you are right it's a q series strip. Really good efficiency 200lm/w. But you need 3 of them to do what 1 bridgelux eb 3 does at nominal. So from a watt / $$ perspective the bridgelux is around half the price. Man honestly other than those those $2 h series I've had trouble finding something as economic as the bridgelux. Damn them. Lol.

I think there's too much hype around the Sammy diodes right now keeping their strip prices high. I swear it's almost cheaper to just buy Ali Baba boards made with Samsung diodes vs some of the strip pricing I've seen on Digi-Key.

nominal for the eb gen 3s is 700ma. Since you have aluminum I think you could easily get away with 1050ma/strip. So @ 1050ma the strips are 38.5v X 1.05= 40.4w. So for 800W light. That's 800W/40w/strip= 20 strips.

so now you know you want to buy around 20 strips. So pick the drivers and see it might serve you to add a strip or drop a strip depending what drivers are available.

He's right the connectors do suck and the strips are flimsy as fuck. But you are being a cheap ass and they are best value. Lol. I bet a 2ft slim strip would be less shit feeling to work with. Doesn't solve the shitty small connectors, but I'd do it in favour for the extra efficiency. Future electronic has EB GeN 3 Normal strips. Get those if you need. Plus they got euro warehouses.

also bro you are subbed to my thread you crack head lmao. Bro you are like dori from finding Nemo. Forget what you doing every 3 seconds.

my lights use eb gen 3 slims and build thread here.

Only in veg right now, just got the light up last week, heat, not really, they are dimmed, running full, it throws down some heat for sure. Ballasts are mounted suspended on some c channel and I have a fan usually blowing on my back wall equipment. This light is 4.5’ x 5.5’, will journal the flower part soon.

Yeah that doesn’t seem worth it at all at those prices. Wish I grabbed more f series when they were available. The light I posted is influx strips.

I didn't mean cheap ass in an insulting way. You are looking for good bang for your buck which is normal for humans, unless you are a moron.

nothing wrong with the bridgelux strip, I've already flowered with it and know what it can do.

I also bought 366 Samsung strips to make lights with too. I don't really care what brand. You basically spec your own light. Figure out howmany lumens/ par you tryna fit in what space and buy strips and drivers to suit.

Seoul semi conductor strips does a strip I will probably try after I am done all the Samsung builds. Lol. Their Linear HE series is both economical and efficient. It's about $10 for a 4ft strip that does 33.6Vx0.65a = 22w @195LM/W@ nominal current.

That's a hell of a strip light,a bar is out though..... Usually you try to decrease draw from hid, not increase, lol

Yield monster no doubt
I was short a plug end for the last ballast, now I’m just too lazy to put it on lol, no savings on power either, I was using 1600w of hid . I have never flowered with led, will see what happens pretty quick here.

Those are Q which have lm301b . Thanks for the share on these. Decent price for them.
The q are lm301b.. like hlg uses and that's q series and it's been shown the blux are superior to them ? And the f series ? Did I read that right

can't wait to see what those things do.

I have a pretty cool design in mind using the 1 footers, been waiting for you to show us some magic before I buy more strips I have no business spending more money on.

and whoever posted the Q strips - damn you I was trying to go to bed 20 mins ago and now I got that in my head. thanks. lol

I typoed i mean b.
Im just looking that hlg are using a led thats not as good as the gen 2? And sellin em so like if i matched a hlg with gen 2 itnwould be a better light? Sorry i just always held hlg up on a big trophy shelf as the beat of the best and buy top bins so no 1 can beat em... but that says these strips wil beat em
