Are Forums the best place to learn...?

I've come to the conclusion forums may not be the best place to learn and they may even Harper the progress off a newbie growers. In fact a forum is probably not the best place to start. The best place IMO is a tomato plant. they grow fast and really tell you how they feel. Then i would say start a cannabis plant in compost, don't feed it just water and watch it grow... right the way till it looks dead...

Starting from scratch is not easy. You have every man and his dog with their own personal opinion. Only you no your environment.

From my perspective the best way to start is Organic. It removes so many points of fail, if basic standards are applied. #

Rich living soil IMO is the best way to start, No PH'ing, and minimal feed, Leaving you to just worry about water and temps, along with calmag if using LEDs.

Speak up if you have an easier way to start growing......

Keep it simple from the start. Don't buy into all the fancy smancey bottled nutes that have fancy labels. Learn how to build a soil. And how micro organisms feed your roots, then, the plant. It's less expensive to grow organics than wi synthetic nutes.

I disagree about learning from this forum. I personally have learned a ton on here.

I agree about organic as well. However, as I newer grower I didn’t have the patience to wait for the amendments to work. So not sure it would have worked for me early on.

Oh how I wish I had seen this post when I was first trying to get into growing five years ago. I went into a forum and started asking questions and was barraged with a ton of complete contradictions and just had to put it aside for a few years. I spent the whole time researching and trying to put my tent set up together but I never tried to grow anything because I kept hearing all the opposite advice I got. I think it’s best to just grow a plant on your own no nutes no special soil mixes no stress. Like OP said just watch the plant grow and see how it acts. Then once you have a general baseline for how it grows you can tweak things as you see fit.
My first grow I got so stressed out I finally just ignored the tent entirely and checked it when everything was dead. Still got some not quite decent bud but man. This time around I didn’t look anything up I stayed consistent in tending and checking and while I’m still in veg my plants look exponentially healthier and larger.
Now I’m also a very naturally nervous person so I know my case is extreme but still. I wish I had just planted a damn seed and watched it grow and not looked anything up.
