is a carbon scrubber a must for the inline fan systems or is it just for the smell? wondering if theres no filter at the output wether it impacts negativly on the fan performance

Without a filter your fan will become more effective.
Fans are only for airflow,
you could grow in a warehouse with a couple of 1kw lights and some desktop fans,
it's going to stink and light may leak out of the warehouse but if the temperature in range
your plants could grow really well without any problems

Just for the smell. Although if you use a carbon filter you need an in-line centrifugal fan. One of the cheap booster fans won’t cut it, they are meant for airflow only and don’t have enough static pressure to run with a filter.

i was wondering ifi can get away with just venting the heat wth say two of these. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Orchid-Eco-Duct-4-5-6-Inch-Inline-Extraction-Fan-Hobby-Hydroponics/283224361721?epid=1154335578&hash=item41f17ccaf9:g:Go8AAOSwjNdbzvoZ

instead of having the inline fan and scrubber. or will the bulb itself give off to much direct heat?
im only going to be growing one or two plants in it at most for my first enviromentaly controled, well to a point run.
I would have to say no myself. The strongest fan you link is around 170cfm. I think you should be shooting for 200+ myself. Your light will create a lot of heat. Exausting it without a filter would work fine, temperature wise. But I wonder if you realize how much smell these plants put out and how strong it can be. And if there is anybody in your household with allergies or asthma it could make things much worse for them. Just something for you to think about. I'm growing legally, but I still would never grow without a good filter myself.

no problems here, smell is beutifull, in fact im looking foward to my sensi seeds black domina smell, i love indicas, well 95% indica this one.
so is that one or two x 200cfm? per 1m x1mx2m tent. theres two holes near the top i was thinking of putting one in each side if i dont go for the inline fan and aircooled shade, although i like the look of the thinner elongated cool hood with flexi hose enough to lower the bulb down to a reasonable height.
but ive only just been informed by a good member that the settings on my ballast mean i have to buy a new set of 25ow mh/hps bulbs. i have 1 x 600w mh and one duel mh hps bulb 2 400w mh bulbs and a 400w sodium.
it says it has a turbo boost setting for a 600w to boost it to 660 w, but have been told it doesnt workon mh bulbs only sodium, any truth to this

If you have a 600W digital ballast, it "should" be capable of running 600W MH or HPS bulbs. What brand/model is it?
its an omega dimmable ballast 250w/400w 600w and a turbo boost to 660w, it came with a 600w duel mh/hps bulb , omega also. i also baught a 600w mh omega bulb to go with it too.
i have 400w mh and hps bulbs.
the light shade is a cheap open wing shade, im looking at a coolshade but dont know if the heat build up within it without any air flow is detrimental to the life of the bulb

I don't know anything about dual bulbs. But in a 1m x 1m area you could use the 400W to start with. MH for veg and then HPS for flower. I have been growing in a 4ft x 4ft (1.22m x 1.22m)tent with 400W MH and then HPS, worked fine. In your smaller tent 400W should work even better.

One thing we don't know, what is the climate where you are? Is it going into winter? Is it cold outside? That makes a big difference. I only grow in the winter when it's cold out.

You would want the scrubber on the input, if it’s on the output, put the pre filter inside to protect the carbon bed, if you just want filtration and low restriction, grab a hepa mushroom cap.

If you don’t give a fuck like me, scrub the room the tents in with a fan and filter sitting on the shelf and call it a day. Fan runs better unloaded, load increases wear. I vent my room when the lights are out and just use a passive intake in the form of a spring loaded damper.

Pretty sure most digital ballasts will run either bulb in the correct wattage, I can’t tell boost mode on my SE ballasts, it’s all bright, mh or hps. I can see the difference on the 1100w boosted DE. Ushio makes a 1150w hps de bulb too. I thought that was badass until Ren broke out the 1500w 5 gal pail size se hps.

And no, you can enclose the bulb with no venting, it’s only dangerous to your skin and surrounding, shits hot af open, closed, hot... I never heard of it wearing a bulb faster, hours burning and startup wear bulbs.

yes its autom/winter so cold.
i intend to use the 400watt for the grow and flower at first as im only going to grow a couple of autos in there. seedsman cbd 30-1 auto and a royal queen seeds fast one. ill also have a hindu kush cutting in there too, ive had to reveg one of my clones as a mother under a ts600 mars hydro
