Yes pg&e is tying things up a bit but ultimately responsible the fire claimed 85 lives I live in the same kind of town & have had to evacuate but we had warning after seeing their fire aftermath & listening to how they barely made it I'm taking time to re assessment of my situation , how are things going for you ttystikk? good to hear from you!
The officers of the company who were responsible for the 'cost cutting' decisions to neglect tree trimming near power lines should be sitting in jail for a long time- but that would require justice and accountability, two things America has seen precious little of in recent decades.

I'm glad to hear your family is well and none lost their lives. Rebuilding takes time but it's worth doing in such a beautiful place. Maybe the company will remember these lessons half a century from now when the trees are tall and dense again... If not, it will be up to you and your descendants to hold their feet to the fire- literally if necessary!

I'm doing fine, man, thanks for asking. PM me if you want more details lol

Utility company's have long reaped profits from cheap hydroelectric powerplants most near a century old & long covered whatever investment they required in the beginning , just makes Erin Brokovich a hero in my eyes

Exactly, so skimping on power line maintenance is unforgivable.

This is what happens when utilities are privatised; crapification in the service of profiteering.

as is passing the cost of their greed to the consumer they will hit us with a raise in their rates , cover their liability & in the end make more profit & cover it up in alternative energy & other stuff that has lucrative tax breaks or outright exemption from taxes

Hey, now yer getting it! Greed and corruption, it's the American way! If a few (hundred) poor people get singed and toasted around the edges, that's just the the cost of doing business!

The only way our country will get this fixed is to reinstate full accountability from bottom to top. That's very difficult to do since those in power are the ones who got rid of that pesky accountability stuff to begin with.

This is exactly how great nations and civilisations fall. Just because we're America does not mean we are immune.

Paradise, CA has become an economic sacrifice zone; a place where profit taking has destroyed the community. There are thousands of such communities all across the country now, from coal mining towns to towns built around factories now shut down because the work was sent overseas. Paradise was literally burned to the ground and those responsible will never see a day in jail.

That's the big picture, the one they won't tell you about on the evening news. The only way to reverse this trend is to... You guessed it; hold everyone accountable, from corporate CEOs to Government officials at every level.

It will be the toughest thing this country has ever done, to reverse these trends of corruption and wealth concentration. If we want a country worth living in to pass down to our children, it's high time we got started.

Just something to ponder while working in your garden...

View attachment 4395617 spent yesterday in Paradise ca. looking at where the fire went through 3 of my family members lost homes there & are rebuilding others weren't so fortunate , then this morning woke up to a pretty good rain I just love fall I switched my setup to a 2 gal smart pot with coco based basement mix surrounded by hydroton & the dripper on a timer View attachment 4395613
Why did you switch your set up to this coco?

Royal Gold is my favorite medium either basement mix or tupur they're coco based but have other stuff as well I'm prone to have a weakness for experimenting based on past experience I feel this will work good I hope I'm right lol
With this combination what are the added benefits ? You did this already and had no issues?

not much change today she is still settling in & will probably be like this 4-5 days View attachment 4396641
My concern about your setup is the muddling of grow styles;
The drip ring continuously waters, right? That works great for hydroton or grow stones, even river gravel, anything that doesn't have any water holding capacity.

But continuously watering a coco based media will drown the roots. That media needs to be given the chance to dry out to a certain degree every day.

I've done a lot of different systems, I'm giving you the benefit of my hard earned experience.

Google elephant's foot. You don't want it.

Maybe put the pump driving the drip ring on a timer, so it runs maybe 30 minutes a day, several times a day once the plant starts getting bigger.

This unconventional setup poses complications that I really wonder gonna get you you that much more yield? You got ph vs ph and a bunch of medium vs clean water . Your white build up is already a problem on your drip ring and your fabric is never gonna get a chance to dry out . I have used those fabrics pots many a plant and they will build up a nasty combination of salt and mold . Good luck my friend. It pains me to watch.

As long as he waters to run off, he won't get salt buildup in the soil medium where it counts.

These hybrid systems can be tricky. I've tried a few with very mixed results, hence the concerns I mentioned above. I'm interested in seeing how things work out- after all, the plants themselves always get the last word!

So fill us in on these details! I know, it's entertaining to keep us guessing, right? Lol
I have a feeling this is gonna work as long as I don't over saturate my roots Early on dtw has the same problem once the plant gets established I'll fire up the dripper once a day via the timer & possibly more if needed I've had roots grow through the fabric on a 1gal smart pot buried in a 3 gal smart pot so I think the roots will grow into the hydroton & end up in the bottom chamber like a normal water farm in the next few days I'm gonna add a small air stone on its own pump
