Power Outages

Hey All!
I need some more brain power here.
Every so often my power company has an issue, brief interruptions; which caused self-pollination.
Wish I could sue them.
When I'm here, I can remedy it; but this morning it happened while I was away.
I am not buying a generator for this, as I already paid $1,500 to bury my lines in the event of storms.
When service goes out, it's always less than 20 minutes.
Am thinking perhaps a security light w/back-up battery, problem there is; it will go on when the timed lights are supposed to be off at night.
I simply am unable to come up with the solution of keeping them awake when this happens w/o the generator.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated, TY in advance.

Occasional outages of 20 minute duration won't cause hermieing
You have a different problem, not a power outage issue

Which was my first guess, unstable genetics.
THE SHIT LIST ......

Went off on them 2 weeks ago, first time in years this has happened.
Should have inspected them more carefully early on.
I have already switched breeders, should have stuck w/my old ones.
Over a decade of experience, and I'm still learning.

I wouldn’t worry about 20 min breaks if they aren’t really common like a couple a day. On another note I’m afraid to even run or buy seeds lately, I do find some great phenos but only after wading thru her after herm to find them.

Also if you wanted to address the power outages i think the best bet is to just hook up a dusk to dawn light (will have to wire a regular cord on it) to a timer that Is then plugged into a battery backup for computers. I’d go with led dusk to dawn light since it won’t pull much power. Dusk to dawn so it uses photocell to come on when your lights are turn off. The timer needs to be set same as your lights so it doesn’t come on during dark cycle.

UPS, pretty cheap and they can sustain power independent of your mains if they go out. They also protect your devices from surges etc.

12 volt deep cell battery with a small inverter and one low wattage bulb in a cheap painters lamp can operate for many hours if you need to keep the light / dark cycle on schedule.

If you're at your grow when you lose power it only takes a minute to hookup. However many hours and minutes later it's supposed to be dark or light, just manually connect or disconnect every 12 hours until line service power resumes.

The most important question no one asked is what is the total wattage of your system. A manual generac system is cheap and diy but an automated system is mucho denaro. Upc systems are great but when strong enough to cover a grow tent your looking at an industrial size unit for a server or such...

If you find something that would be cool, i live in a rural area and have components for a manual generac system, its a summer project for next winter.

Actually an automatic transfer switch is about 700 bucks in addition to the generator itself, so not that much more costly. Getting it wired in though can be costly if you aren't an electrician.
