Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

Today they clarified it would be 14 business days, so basically 3 weeks.
Seems like printing times have gone up since November/December. If the IDPH standard line "10-14 days" after approval has indeed turned into "14 business days" that sucks. It's also cutting quite close to violating Illinois law, which requires IDPH to "issue registry identification cards to a qualifying patient and his or her designated caregiver, if any, within 15 business days of approving the application." 410 ILCS 130/6(a)(2).

Any IDPH lurkers here? Can't help but notice that our neighbor Ohio was smart enough to use downloadable/printable ecards for their new medical cannabis program. IDPH is essentially going to be issuing ecards starting in a few weeks, since that's what the provisional access document is for all intents and purposes. Maybe there's some merit to dropping the fancy printed card altogether if it would save time/money.

The state hasn't been following several other crucial stipulations in the law either, and since there's no penalty attached, 'breaking the law' doesn't appear to be worrisome or problematic for them.

I went through Hytek medical oct 13th, got a call from them saying i needed another apt. I told them no, I havent even gotten my card yet. The 1st apt they drew blood and charged my ins about 2 grand for the blood work. Do I have to go back to see them and pay another $80 and give more blood?

Yes, or find a new Dr and I think re-apply. Dr's can revoke your card for many reasons, including no longer having a Dr patient relationship. I see no way for a present card holder to change their Dr except on the original application.

Hytek struck me as a scam, up to and including requiring way more Dr visits than are required to have a Dr patient relationship and claiming it's the law.

Are your real Dr's against it or forbidden? Perhaps it would be beneficial to stick with Hytek until you get some benefits to show your PCP and they will sign after that.

Where did you hear that doctors can revoke?

I can't answer that. But my experience was two visits to the Dr. at The Healing Clinic (both in the same week), in between which I got the required medical records to them. That was it. If there is any follow up requirement, they didn't make that clear to me.

So your experience sounds like it was significantly different from mine.

Its right in the law. Doctors can't revoke your card, per se, but they can cause your card to be voided. If you terminate your relationship with your recommending doctor, that doctor is required by law to notify IDPH, who is required to void your card. 410 ILCS 130/75.

Same is true if your recommending doctor decides you no longer have the qualifying condition, or decides that cannabis is no longer recommended for your medical treatment (their call, not yours).

When your card is voided, you have 15 days to get rid of any cannabis and related paraphernalia, and after that you are no longer immune to prosecution.

(Not to mention under the new opiod program you'll need your doctor to affirmatively renew your recommendation every 90 days.)

Bottom line: be very careful about preserving the bona fide relationship with your recommending doctor.

I did not have to give blood, and I only had to see the doctor once so far, paid 300$ for Doctor visit/approval. But like someone else said they did not make it clear when I have to come back or when I have to come back for follow up, I swore they said once a year. But it's been over 3 months so I could be recalling wrong. But I'm so glad I didn't have to give blood. I hate needles. I would be happy to get my card in 95 days bc that would mean Monday I get my card.

One visit for me too. Took my letter of diagnosis in and talked with the doc for a total of 5 minutes. Applied same day and paid by card. 1-10-19. Called the state yesterday and they said they never got payment. After explaining my card was charged and I have receipt they gave me an email to forward the receipt too. Got a reply immediately saying they received and forwarded to the correct department. Haven't called again to see if they show as payment received.

Edit: I went through medical cannabis outreach. They gave everyone heavy CBD doses to ease any anxiety. Super helpful.

When I got my card in Michigan I went straight to the dispensary after I left the doctor. Had my card in two weeks. Ounces of top shelf tested product ran me around 200 bucks. And no one cared about daily limits. Bought a pound in one visit the day I moved back to illinois.

As Spellchek said, in the new law. They also restated the Dr patient relationship (but didn't really clarify that any better, and I think there have been some crack downs or at least new fears from the mmj clinic Drs. I've heard of someone who was supposed to visit the Dr they saw at the clinic again at the Dr's office.
They write the law so vague you can't tell what is a scam and what isn't. (But you'd have to be very sick and actively going through procedures to have to go as often as Hytek wants, I was released from surgery with less and I think I have a bonafide relationship with the Dr who chiseled my neck apart and glued it back together. Treatment with mmj doesn't justify a Dr visit 4x a year.)
But really, seeing your Dr once a year should qualify for a real Dr patient relationship. That's what healthy people do at their Dr. If I wasn't on the drugs I'm on that's probably what I'd be doing at my PCP and GI and I have chronic issues (never quite made it to once a year but I did have it scheduled once).

My doc didnt want to sign the recommendation even though he agreed with my mmj use because he was under the belief that only certain docs can sign them in illinois. I wasnt going to convince him that he could, its his med license on the line. So i got my records from him and went to hytek.

I've been following this forum for about 2-3 months waiting patiently. I finally gave in and called at day 95 and a guy answered (whom after the conversation I can only assume was new) and said I was approved yet couldn't give me my approval date OR the "sent to printer" date. He (like someone mentioned earlier) said it would be 14 business days. However, today I received a letter stating the place the great state of Illinois outsourced well needed jobs to has failed and I can use this letter as a stead. (Pic included).
I have nothing to do with the "opiate" amendment thing with this ( I applied before that)..but if Illinois' outsourcing company that prints cards has failed to come through I think you guys should have high hopes- pun intended.

Stats:
-October 12th applied online
-January 19th proxy card in hand
99 days

Have you called your dispensary about this? I'd be curious to see if they know about these letters and if the state has told them they're an acceptable form of "card".
