Illinois medical marijuana card wait time

If you go with the Opioid Alternative Pilot Program can you still own a gun.

Ridiculous question but either you’re a criminal or not. What does one have to do with the other.
Because cannabis is still federally illegal we are still seen as criminals to some extent of the law. The state is going against the wishes of the federal government to make cannabis legal. IL is not the most open minded state when it comes to guns so I don't see them making guns legal for medical cannabis users in IL any time soon. Currently the law does not prevent you from owning a gun, it only prevents you from being able to purchase future guns. I'm not sure how they will be approaching the gun issue for opiate alternative. They already have enough on their hands trying to figure out how to properly implement the new program. The gun side of politics is even more difficult in this situation because there are some people that use cannabis for depression and anxiety. Those conditions could be seen as someone who is mentally unfit. How do we know if that person will be safe with a gun. I am all for responsible gun owners as I am one myself, but I do understand the concern for some people. At the end of he day don't be surprised if the opiate alternative program operates the same way.

I've always found it funny that federal law supersedes states laws in most cases, but with grass and guns it's different. The constitution says I can own guns, but Illinois says I have to have a foid card to do so.. just some more bs

Has anyone else gone through Innoative Express care? I know I still have a while yet, but wanted to know their process.

And I’m not frustrated at all, I know it takes a long time, so please don’t take this as I am pissed I haven’t gotten it yet!

First digital visit: 9/11
2nd doctors visit (1st in office): 9/13
3rd visit (2nd digital) 9/20
CC was charged 9/21

Emailed on 10/1 to see if they got my application, and heard back a few hour later ‘it has been received, and will process in order they got them.’

I have been seeing a lot of people getting their checks cashed a while after the send it in.

Any help/advice would be great!
Yes I went there. Appointments June 14/15. Card charged 6/22. Informed mail says card is arriving today!

Yeah but you can say the same about RX drugs. Many of them are taken specifically for depression or anxiety and there’s no stipulation to limit their gun ownership.
It just makes no sense what so ever. It just shows that our lawmakers really see it as a big bad illegal drug but just can’t imagine not getting their hands on all that tax money.

I am not disagreeing with you. This is just the unfortunate state of politics in IL/the USA.

I went through MCO on 7/5, IDPH did not receive my app until 7/26.... 90+ days and still waiting.

Here is my timeline:
6/30 - Appointment at Starflower Clinic In Fulton. Filed application with fingerprints and was told it would be sent off that day.

7/30 - I got the confirmation email from IDPH that my application was received and my card was charged

9/12 - I emailed IDPH and got the standard reply that my application was received and would be processed in the order it was received.

10/14 - I checked informed delivery and it’s being delivered today! I just checked my mail and it’s here. Card in handbongsmilie

105 days from last appointment or
75 days from date application was received.

You say on 7/30 you got a confirmation email. Did they send that out or did you send an email requesting an update at that time? I see a few saying they’re getting emailed about receiving the app but others don’t get emailed.

Medical Cannabis Outreach? What is this? Can you send a link. I am concerned there are going to be more and more fraudulent places trying to take advantage of people. In my opinion, its best to apply directly to the state. You can call or email though.

Quick Story: There was this guy operating a non-profit out of the Aurora area, I volunteered to help out and he was like great send a resume. Without getting into it, I have a lot of background knowledge as to how both the state works and cannabis works. I just check and it looks like his "non-profit" vanished. He might have basically gotten money from the state or federal government and then disappeared. This is the worst type of thing to happen, because its this type of stuff that Rauner and his anti-medical cannabis cronies use. To try to limit our access to medication. Remember, he is on record of saying he is "not a fan of the program", tried to veto it several times and basically had to have his arm twisted to open it up to PTSD patients (which now encompass 80 percent of new applicants).

They sent me the email on their own on 7/30. I didn’t Send one at that time.
