Strawberry Daiquiri "test" grow

Ok, so back around new years I germinated 48 freebies from a subcool promo at the attitude. The strain is Strawberry Daiquiri, and I'm here to give my first hand experience.

Whenever I grow a new variety, I tend to be tough on the plants, I will use high and low stress training on most plants to see what they are capable of, both good and bad.

I'm harvesting this week, and I believe I have 6 solid contenders for a 'real grow', to start in about 10 days, I'll be reposting here for that harvest.

This variety is extremely sensitive to being root bound. It will autoflower if it is not happy with the size of the pot it's in. Every single male I kept in my veg closet (6 in total) autoflowered, and 2 females also did (out of 5). If not autoflowering, the plant will display it's stress in other ways, like producing pollen sacks/herming, or stretching.

My verdict prior to smoking these plants: Strawberry Daiquiri is one of the most unstable cannabis varieties I've ever grown (luckily they were free), plants differ heavily from one another. The best smelling plants, with the most Berry scents, 8 out of the 12 females (3 still waiting to be grown out), all produced big ballsy pollen sacks, and subsequently bananas, usually on the lower bud sites, but one plant did so on it's main top bud and seeded itself pretty well. I've counted about 60 seeds so far just from the top. I will not be running any of them again due to their instability, all but 1 of the berry girls. Now the 'keepers', only 1 berry smelling girl, like strawberry punch and sweet diesel, she produces one of the best looking cannabis buds as well as amazing smell, very high calyx to lead ratio. I have another plant that smells exactly like peanut butter funk, which I will be re-running. And a virtually smell-less plant that is probably the frostiest plant I've grown since 2012(Chernobyl), after cutting it down, it smells like pineapple diesel.

There seems to be two common phenotypes, a taller lanky stretchy berry smelling girl, and another squater, more earthy-peanut smelling type, generally squater, with much better support for buds.

The final verdict will come in about 2-3 weeks, after the buds are dry and smokeable.

I'll include bud pics then

I like to breed with the uber frosty Slymer cut of Chernobyl, and we love the rare gravy pheno of it too!

Sorry to hear your S. Daquiri's were unstable!! But you have solid approaches to things, so I'm sure you'll be on to a worthy project in no time!!

Also, out of the 17 females I had this run, I can say only 2-3 I would consider to be Heavy yielding plants, one plant I'm likely going to get an oz off of. And these girls are being flowered under only 60w of led in a 4'x4' reflective grow tent, which is damn impressive IMHO, considering it's got a good calyx-leaf ratio.

I've got a Daiquiri girl in this batch that is looking to be special, judging by the trichs, it reminds me of the Chernobyl, leaves covered in resin from top to bottom, resin on the stems and keif coned leaf like yours shows. I absolutely loved that slymer pheno, it was stolen though, so I only had one good harvest from it.

So I just sampled 1 plant, .5 grams in a vape, and I can say I'm actually impressed. High lasts a solid 2 hrs and then tapers off for an hour. Taste slightly comes through this early, fruity/pineapple skunkyness and a bit of diesel. I can't wait for them to be finished in 1 month so I can give actual smoke reports on each pheno. I'm going to try the peanut butter plant tomorrow and the hermie that I got about 60 seeds from I'll sample that on Friday.
