DIY with Quantum Boards

I have not tested my drivers at 240 volts but the specs on my driver do not give a separate spec for wiring up the driver at the most common voltages (100-240). Besides it is better to error towards the side of caution and the highest power draw so as to ensure circuits are not overloaded.
Search for the application notes, or check the datasheet
It lists the number of drivers that can go on a breaker.

I know the sheets quite well and I know what they say. However I have not tested my drivers at different voltages. I am trying to provide information to people who don't have the time, willingness, or capabilities to find/know what they are looking for. And for those people I want to make sure they stay safe. Because if they don't want to learn and understand what the specs say then chances are they will be more likely to follow anyones advice, at their own cost.

Although I like your idea and contribution, I've mixed feelings about this. People not willing to learn the basics have no business messing with electrical DIY devices. Too many people want everything to work like a toaster, push one button.......I too have pushed for people to understand what is needed to build a light and to be safe when doing DIY. Its disturbing when many responses you get are: "yeah yeah yeah, I'll be safe" then ask if the can run a 20 amp load on a 15 amp circuit, and you know they totally ignored you. I'd like to see more ready to use QB lights, this is what some people need, and should be offered to those who can't or don't want to grasp the information ALL diy builders should be using!

What is the term for the cool little waterproof connector that comes with the kits? I have pieced together my 2nd set up (driver, boards, etc), but cannot find the little connector for the power cord that is water tight.

It's just another kind of junction. Here's a twofer on Amazon:

Cable glands are what I call them. They have a few different names. make sure the glands work with the diameter of the cable you are using

Little garden time :

Veg time with the autos ( mephisto TOOF X BD cross / 2 black afghani X blueberry )
Branching is setting up and all green ....

Still on Dr. Earth soil only with 6.5 ( ish ) water and optic foliar overdrive spray twice a week. Soil has been holding its own without adding extra feed. Water has been mixed with silica once a week . Green stalks , green stems , a few leaf blems but not to concerned about it. But soil run as is. Airpots do dry quicker but not hard to watch them .

18/6 with 3500k with deep red .

I believe part of their manufacturing process resided in China for sometime, so I'd be surprised if there were any serious differences. I remember reading something along the lines of them thinking an NDA protected them from China lol.

Well, since I've spent thousands of dollars with that company now, I think its safe to say I know the quality of what they're selling won't be an issue. They are a well-known, highly respected vendor for this community, not your typical scam Chinese company. I'd be wary if it were someone else, but HLG should be very concerned if that vendor is posting product pages like that. Don't be surprised if their boards perform the same as your boards purchased directly from HLG.

Go ahead, buy that cheap junk, then you WILL be an expert on shit, because thats what you'll be buying. Or, make them prove they are usingf Samsung chips, because they are not. they are Epistar, you know, the same company that makes chips for all the burple gargae Chinese lights. I'll garantee you these Alibaba boards and heatsinks are NOT the same quality.

We already had some asshole come here ttalking about boards he was trying to sell. He got a rude awakening when he found out what a pile of shit they sold him!

Antoher thing, try to get warranty service on Alibaba crap. Good Luck!

So Are HLG's baords worth the extra money? Damn right they are! Look through this thread at the comments on customer service, NO ONE will treat you better than these guys. My personal experience with needing support was that they went way beyond what you'd normally expect!

So you can save some money and take your chances, or you can do the smart thing and buy a product that has PROVEN to be top shelf.

And I'll be here laughing my ass off when those that buy counterfeit QB boards watch their lights die.........
