May be wrong but the way I was taught was
It’s more efficient,
Gives time for roots to grow
And when put in flower (12/12) the bud sets appear earlier
It may be all bs but it works for me

I like a 20/4 light cycle.. When you drop 8 hrs to 12/12 They start flowering within a week...

I wonder how autos would react to 12/12? And is that the only way to get photoperiod plants to flower? And once they do flower how would they react to going back to 18-6 for the duration? And ultimately, shouldn't the cycle be 15-9? The sun is up for 15hrs,and down for 9,at least where I am it is... We're playing with the light doing anything but 15-9... U know what? Im gonna try it out and see what happens...

How is that? Im not doubting you, i just want to understand how that works...
I should have included that it takes 6 weeks of veg and the plants are pretty mature.. I made it sound like one week veg and flip then you get flowers.. I wish! Right now I'm trying 14/10 from seed.. Seems I do things different every grow...

So 15/9 is not a bad idea then...

I have never grew autos but was at one time so I did a little back work....
Autos do not need 12/12 to flower
They automatically flower after time
Doing 12/12 will decrease overall end amount
Going 12/12 to initial budding sounds interesting but with autos stay on your same light cycle.
For autos I’d do 18/6 or 20/4

No
It’s not a bad idea
Just not the best
Since the grow / life cycle of autos is shorter, the more time with light the more of end product you will get.
Anything under 18 hours ( with autos) and your cutting down on your max yield
Farm friendly

I always do 24/0 for veg. I like they way they grow better. For me it seems they grow a lot faster and stronger, but everyone has a preference
