Not an advice column and save the messages. Short of it is I have been off here a while and see some things have gotten even goodies. Inviting anyone but especially experienced growers to add advice but this is for starting up from nothing.

I have spent the last couple days talking to professional growers. Alaska is legal and this rocks. I have friends with limited grows 500 square feet or less and unlimited with literally no limit on square footage. All make their living growing cannabis. So here's their suggestions keeping money in mind but yield the goal.

1. KISS
2. Start in soil
3. The best yields per square foot presently is CMH lighting. Nearly all say they would use two 315CMH units in place of 1000 watts of HPS. Not a 630CMH because of square foot coverage.
4. Smart pots because of beginner tendency to overwater
5. Use feminized or feminized autos to get the experience of watching it grow instead of wondering what it is for a month.
6. Use graduated container transplanting to speed up growth in veg.
7. Nutes? Experienced growers know how this went so do some asking those who know.

For whatever all that is worth to anyone. Not any grow manual for sure.

Experienced growers go for it. Refuting even. Nothing is in concrete.

Hi Harley,
How are Ya dude? Sorry to say I've never made it up to Alaska but I know it must be lovely.

I wanted to ask you a question about seed popping. Not just any seed...but old ones that may be difficult. I'm just getting back to growing (well soon) after almost 8 years and my whole seed collection is that old and older. Including a cross I made when I had to sacrifice my prized White Widow clone momma.

I have some nice strains and some I just bought on a whim...but I want to at least try rather then tossing them and gambling on new genetics.

I've heard of scuffing and layering. Any advice on the subject would be appreciated. I'm open to old wives tales, lunar timing, and such...but was hoping for some solid advice from experience. What do you do before cracking an old one?
