Veg and flowering lighting

I am having a hard time finding information on how much lighting and what kind of lighting the plants need for veg and flowering. Been lending towars using led lighting.

I am wanting to just start out small with a few plants. Like a 3x3 and make it larger as i get more experience. I have plenty of room and multiple rooms to grow in.

LED is okay but best yields HPS. 400-600 watts can cover what you describe. A package for this from Amazon would include metal halide and high pressure sodium bulbs, ballast , reflector and hangers. Less than $150.

And use soil. Do yourself a favor and use soil in smart pots. Learn about the plant before diving into a 27 site RWDC with umpteen lights and no clue. Those folks do exist and they post here. "Help! They're fucked. What do I do?"

If you are serious about growing more than a couple grows you might as well start off smart. I suggest 2 lights - one for vegging and one for flowering. I have a 400W bulb in my 3 x 5 veg closet and a 1000W bulb in my 8 x 8 flower room. On eBay you can pick up complete set-ups, hood, bulb, cords, ballast and timer, for about $250 each. So for around $500 you are ready for anything from an occasional grow to a perpetual grow. I've been harvesting 1-2 plants a week for most of a decade and probably haven't used more than 6 or 7 bulbs. I figured the bulbs increase my monthly electric bill around $70 a month, including fans. When you have your equipment in hand post again asking for help and I can give you some tips that will help you grow cheaper.

Good luck, BigSteve.

Do you use a 400 watt mh bulb for veg and a 1000 watt hps bulb for flowering?

I guees this would be the easier way to start out and can try leds laters when i have more experience.
