Hps or MH or LED?

whats your experience level? Also whats the height of your 12x10

so 12x10 room id divide into 3 rows of lights like as if its three 4x10 rooms. Id go with either 6 DE 1k hps if height is there for roughly $1800 or 24 quantum boards DIY built like greengrassgrower1(https://www.rollitup.org/t/from-des-to-leds.948046/) with 8 qb's per 4x10 for roughly around $3000
Room is 8ft tall. My experience level is beginner. I've had 1 grow indoor grow doing very well ended by police. And 3 unsucesful outdoor grows. I screwed up I think by not using more perlite, using some PH up and heat killed some. Ima just grow indoor for now. It seems to work for me aswhere outdoor has not.

I have a 600w hps in a cooled hood that is about 6-8inches from the top of the canopy.
Cannot do this when the plants are young or the ambient temperature is high of cause (I don't run AC).

A few growers have mentioned that they run low like this over many different threads so its nothing new.
I believe king grower insinuated he does not use cool tubes so I found ''a few inches'' hard to comprehend. A later poster said he uses 400whps so that's easier to fathom.

Can I ask, why would you want to get the light that close anyway?. It blocks light distribution as far as I can tell. Or maybe your mid buds make up for it?.

I like multiple points of light. I got 8 different spots and a large bar. so much more penetration. I didnt even defol last round, i sure will this round though.

all about keeping it in VPD buddy. and light intensity indoors is more than any part of the planet for one. :-P
When a plant goes out of VPD because there isnt enough humidity in the room it stops absorbing light for food.
where do those photons go? they reflect and damage the plant. thats why you see burn marks and different necrosis. especially with MG defs.

so you can be outside and not give it as much light but be hotter and the plants wont show any stress because the sun is only so damn bright. :fire:

None of this makes sense, light damages chlorophyll via the psII repair system not how you seem to say.

Vpd is not accurate, humidity dosent drive transpiration light does. Plants transpire upto 105% himidity, why covered leaves still get wet.

My science is strong, your too green to understand.

May i ask the all crucial question of which you may google first to understand your level... Is wind natural or un-natural to weed plants? :-)

Peeps should re-read as ive yet to get plants within a few inches of my 600hps and run it at 400 when not needing such a wide coverage. I merely state my tent gets hot and my plants have always done fine, over thirty easily.

My reference to plants growing a few inches was from pictures of previous pros who ran vert gardens very close to hps's and they left lots of pic lroof thats easy to find.

Cooltubes are however pointless, air exchange keeps air temps down and ir is not affected by wind or glass. I see zero difference cool tube or bare bulb and this has been tested many times before...

not being argumentative but don't you run one 400w and two plants?
Of cause your not going to get heat issues. You also live in England and lets be honest its not the warmest part of the world to begin with.
Ive covered this indoor temp point before and average room temp is between 18-20c, if you cant cool or heat your house to what humans call the comfort zone then its not leds you need its to stop being so cheap and environment control your house like the rest.of us.

No matter where ive lived in the world indoor temps have always been the same, guess im not that cheap to make my family live in shitty conditions....

Lol the only thing is strong here is your thick scent of bullshit.

Other growers here have seen many run up close to hps's, i dont worry making such far fetched claims.

Ive asked you to explain why outdoor plants lap up high ambients and ir but you refuse to give any citeable reason and you dont understand vpd past that simple copy and paste stuff or you would know wind is un-natural to weed.

Im thick skinned, i provide facts and higher content to discuss but still i meet your attitude, i could talk down to you but id rather you be my equal, i dont have the answers but i there is enough to say that theres more to it than meets the eye and led sellers jumped all over it only for greed of selling more units and it didnt correlate with actual science.

Its not hard to see why i slate leds and at those prices i can make hps work a lot better :-)

So is your total usable area 12 x 10? If so you will need a veg area, blooming area, and a work area that will also act as a lung room. I'd recommend not going all in based on your experience level. Maybe start out with a 5x5 bloom tent with one air cooled 1k hps on the cheap. Get a feel for the plant and it's full life cycle, germination to harvest. Learn the light and how to deal with heat. Then after have some experience under your belt think about switching out lights to something else that fits your grow style and making a bigger bloom area.

Meh, I’ve used plenty of different hid’s. Some made for growing some not. Cooled and open reflector and no reflector, vertical and horizontal all different sizes and configurations. They worked well. ESP the cmh. But they all had way more challenges then good leds

Leds are good lights but there specs dont stack up, my hps emits very little ir heat compared to the sun and i have to push plants close'ish to even get near the suns lumens. Now with minimal extraction and placing my hand at say 12" i feel aboit thexsame warmth as a sunny day in my tents, i lack a bit more ir and uv to get technical, my spectrum otherwise is pretty good.

Wtf are led growers on about, its a low amount of watts to heat an extracted space by much, i can duplicate your high temps with a thermometer but same as outside in sunlight and then next gen slam more ir into there red spectrum which is kind a contradictory of them.

Led producers sell you bs then you paste it here and i call your bluff with simple facts, go figure, now im a dumbass....

Really? I hate to burst your bubble buddy but you might want to google transpiration before you start spreading misinformation. For one, even at night plant do transpire. That's not me saying so, that's botany 101

I really just don’t know any better. No ac and no extraction.

More humidity equals the plant still transpiring the same as less, more light or less increases or decreases transpiration...

Where am i deviating from raw science at its simplest, above 70% you will cause the plant to alter morphology but you'll also get mold, within these confines of normal climates that plants grow in humidity means very little, more somthing new growers jump...

My house maingtains human habitable levels, easy to run any light. Extraction is simply set to keep heat from building, 100cfm or so per light.

Ive already explained plants domt need wind to breath and the heat removal will bring in more than enough fresh co2, simples :-)

I see bad edema on a lot of lower leaves, a lot of overwatering happened at part of its life, you wont get an unhealthy plant as close as others, a lot of led growers fair better with thecweaker led for this reason and then say its better.

One thing indoor growing is.... hard to get perfect, naturally a problem is seen in most grows, pros are normally time served so to say...
