It depends what you buy. You can get a six plant setup for about $50 and then $10 for an 18 gallon tote to use as a reservoir. They have an initial upfront cost but the time saved by not having to hand water is worth it as far as I'm concerned. Just keep the reservoir filled and you're good to go. I've gone days without even opening my tent or looking at my plants. Lights on a timer, 18 gallon reservoir and Blumats. Nothing needs to be done.

It's like auto pilot haha

I wonder why you get sediment buildup with MegaCrop and Blumats. I use VitaGrow which is almost the same thing but split into three parts which I like because it allows me to adjust the levels of nitrogen, phosphates, calcium, etc... I think it might be from mixing everything together at the same time. You can make a solution of a chemical salt and mix it with a solution of another chemical salt and have them mix perfectly fine. Sometimes when you mix too many chemical salts at once you'll get bonds that form and create insoluble salts. Not trying to knock MegaCrop but I've never experienced any clogged lines. I'm sure that any precipitates are minimal but enough to clog those small Blumat feeder lines and that Blumats were not the target market for their product so it works fine with other growing systems.

Some people run drip clean and other products to alleviate that issue but you can just buy some PeKacid and make your own. I bought some when I got my Blumats but have never even used it. I haven't had the need.

Looking at the sediment, I suspect the larger particles from the kelp extract may be settling out in my supply lines
