Hello.
Im new here, but this is a subject i can definitely give some input on .

I smoked those nasty cancer sticks for 30 years, then one day i decided enough was enough. So i looked for something different. I tried vaping and really liked it. So many flavors it was unbelievable. I did the vaping thing stepping my nicotine down every few months til i was at zero. Vaped at zero for a while then noticed i wasnt even using it as often and set it down and havent looked back.

I think its all mental. I tried many times to quit but dont think i was ready to quit and that was the difference. When i was finally ready to put them down (cigs) switching to vape was easy. But i believe it was because i was ready, my mindset had changed i really wanted to quit this time so i did.

Im over one year vape free, last cig was 4/20/15.
All im saying is when you're ready you can do it.

Good luck to both of you gigle and fubard. I know you can do it. Think positive.
You nailed it with the highlit part, as usual that lump of shit between the ears plays a massive part and if you don't have your head in the right place then you don't have a hope in hell regarding stopping smoking tobacco.

I agree 100% . gotta have the mindset.

My wife still smokes and i'll aggravate her about it every now and then. She tried the vape and it just wasnt enough for her. She just hasn't made her mind up that she wants to quit.
I can aggravate all day long but til she is ready it's just noise to her. She doesnt have that mindset.

Nicotine is the hardest addiction to overcome in my opinion. Ive been addicted to opiates in the past and they seemed easier to quit than nicotine. And that was very diffulcult to get over. I, again made my mind up, and set them down and haven't went back.
When a mind is ready anything is possible.
My new addiction is is growing weed. Can't stop thinking about the next grow. Im 2 weeks into my flower and already thinking of what im wanting and will be changing for the next grow. Gotta have a hobby to keep the mind entertained so it doesn't want those things that we know we don't need.

Good luck and happy growing.

With ya there, I swallow codeine and valium like candy but feel no ill effects when going days without, I stopped the marching powder without skipping a heartbeat, and can even go without coffee without growling too much.

But nicotine? That's a real bastard

Fubard, do you use nicotine in your e cig. If so what mg are you at?

The way i finally eased off the vape was i would have my buddy, who made my juice, mix me two bottles of juice. Put one mg nic in one and zero in the other. But don't mark which was which. So i had no idea whether i was getting any nicotine or

I have zero in both, one is whatever flavour I feel like, not tobacco flavour, and the other is 50mg CBD to try and help pain control. Don't have a choice, as soon as nicotine is in the juice its like sandpaper on my throat.

Suits me fine, the idea is to lessen the dependency on nicotine so by using zero % e-juice I replace the cigarette and every time I vape is one less cancer stick lit, but you still have something to do with your hands.

It's the modern day equivalent of taking an empty ballpoint pen and just sticking that tube in your mouth to replace the feeling of a smoke in your mouth and fingers.

Having something for my hands was why i went with vaping.

I keep a clicky pen in my pocket atwork and if i get the feeling my hands need somwthing to do i'll click that pen a few times. Like a couple dozen. Usually does the trick. Haha.

And here we go into the minefield again, as others have been using the V-Tower for ages with no issues. I wouldn't think about the extreme Q, from what I see it says it does "everything" but does so badly, and why in fuck's name would I need a remote control for something that will be within reach of my grubby paw! That bit, the remote control, had me thinking twice about the V-tower as if the manufacturer is using gimmicks like that as an "attraction" I question the quality, but others convinced me otherwise.

But I have something like 3 weeks left to do my research and make my choice as I'm still tempted by something that can be used "cordless" so I can easily move from sofa to PC without faffing around with finding a spare power socket here at the PC but then I'm looking at the Mighty as that's got the ultimate battery life afaik

Oh, @Lucky Luke, the Plenty can be used with oils and waxes, they make pads for that and it comes with two of these pads.
I’ve used the mighty they’re pretty bad ass for a battery powered vape.

It's the price that puts me off, but we'll see how it goes when I make my mind up.
I'll have yo look but I've know one of the places I've ordered from allows you to pay it off in payments with no credit check or anything. I’ll have to find that site.

Anyway, back to the nasty tobacco bit.

Gigle is actually in a better position than me, imo. He lives in what some say is a beautiful country, and iirc he isn't so far from open countryside. He's definitely going to be more mobile than me so has that wonderful distraction called being able to get out and enjoy the natural beauty around him, which will also help clean his lungs out faster than someone like me who can struggle to walk 50m can.

Of course, I don't have to worry about Drop Bears, but he should be ok as long as he keeps an eye out for the signs of them in the area.

Get ready for all hell to break loose, for after 36 years of nicotine I'm away to quit tobacco.

Going to get a nicotine replacement spray, I have my e-cigs, and if all else fails there's enough Valium here to knock out an elephant.

Then I can be sensible and vape weed, since the plan is to buy an Arizer V-Tower to go alongside my G-Pen Elite so there's no nasty combustion at all.

Wish me luck
id stay the fuck away grom the gpen i had one id dident come with that glass thing id was def combusting

If you have the Elite it is quite good, it has a ceramic bowl with indirect heating so it doesn't burn. The two issues are how fine you have to grind and, especially, the battery life which is a real pain in the ass. Other Grenco pens, that's a different story.

Now, getting a therapist to help with the anxiety will help you as far as life in general goes, and you can replace the nasty tobacco smoking with an e-cig using juice with nicotine in it. Your friendly neighbourhood e-juice shop should have "testers" so you can find what you like, but with a massive amount of flavours out there you can mix and match to your heart's content (whisky and watermelon for me today). So that should help on the tobacco front, you get stressed and push a button instead of firing up a lighter. On the vaping weed front, that's where the fun starts as I found out the hard way how many variables are involved, the most crucial ones being, as usual, the quality of the weed and how fine you grind it. When I got it right, I could barely get off the couch. Another option, obviously, is to get a bong/pipe/chillum and smoke pure weed instead of splifferettes. You can also find "recipes" to make weed e-cig juice, nice and stealthy as hell. And, of course, there's edibles, make yourself some space cakes instead of smoking.

So there's ways to enjoy weed and get off the tobacco, the biggest thing regarding the tobacco is keeping yourself busy, as if your mind is busy then you don't think about a smoke. As I say, I can't do anything like I used to be able to but you can get out and just go for a walk in the relative wilderness nearby, avoiding Drop Bears of course, where you have the calming sounds, sights and smells of Mother Nature at her best. You might even find a good spot to drop some seeds out of sight of others so you have a reason to go for that walk, which would be a bonus, but the more you get out, even alone, then the bigger your "comfort zone" grows, you feel your physical condition and fitness improve, as you see other people out there then your anxiety can drop, even if you just say "hello" as you pass each other it's still "safe" human contact which can help reduce your anxiety, etc.

The first couple of weeks can be hell, that's why I suggested doing what I've done and get nicotine replacement stuff, whether that's gum, patches, inhalers, sprays (I have the spray now) or vaping, then you can start replacing things at a pace YOU'RE happy with as some people can just stop dead, others like me can only cut back bit by bit until the number of cigarettes smoked drops low enough to say "that's it, no more". Like with your anxiety and so on, it's a process, and with your multiple issues then a therapist would likely be of benefit to help you find the mental strength that's buried inside you somewhere, you just need to find the right key to unlock that door between your ears.

Once that's done, the world is your oyster. You'll feel better with yourself for getting off the tobacco, and that will improve your overall mood meaning less stress, and so on. You've nothing to lose but everything to win, so go for it and remember one thing, no matter what, you're bigger than the addiction, and that's before we think of how heavier your wallet will be when the tobacco is gone.
