Is there a rule

Sooooo,is there a rule that says you have to leave your seeds in a dark room for them to pop? Has anyone ever let them sit in the light and they popped? Just curious...

I let seeds soak in water for 24 hours in a jar on my desk and sometimes they sprout while just floating there.

I think a bunch of us keep them in the dark because we were taught that way and never questioned it.

But in nature the sun don't wait to come up.

Correct!!! I like the way you talk...And you're right,we listen to what everyone else has done and never try anything on our own...we should be leaders and pioneers... let's blaze our own paths!!!

I put my seeds in Jiffy Pucks and throw them under the light. Never had a problem in the years I have been doing that.

So if I put them in paper towels and put them under the lights they would be ok? Just make sure that they stay moist right?

Im not saying dark has no merit, maybe its easier to maintain humidity or something. But yeah I still do a lot of stuff that was shown to me because it works. Is it necessary?
Necessary ?

By me throwing them under the lights it also helps to warm them up, plus there is light there for them when they pop.

I don't screw with that paper towel crap.

That being said, paper towels under lights are gonna dry super fast.
I would use pellets or something that holds moisture better if you go that route

If you have them in a plastic bag,that should keep the humidity up though right? I'm just trying to figure some things out, maybe try a different way of doing things... not being an ass... thanks

I've been using Jiffy Pellets for years and have almost 100% success. They pretty cheep to buy and you can get them anywhere that sells gardening supplies. I don't like risk damaging the tap root that's why I use them, but to each their own I guess.

Like I said, I'm learning as I go along,not being an ass, just exploring the possibilities, because they are limitless... I have a plant in my tent that I thought was dead... this mofo is growing like a champ!!! My setup is ghetto as hell!!! But so far it's working!!!

I remember my grandpa giving me a bulb and 13 female plants when I was young. His advice was don't pull of the leafs and if that mercury bulb breaks
Don't try to inhale it.

My setup was definitely ghetto.
Just a bulb in a bedroom.

No fans, no nothing.

I'm still not sure if inhaling an old school bulb is bad, I just took his word for it.

I would deffinately take him on his word about inhaling bulbs.

I know, but I ask a lot of questions and some people take it the wrong way... I'm just trying to learn all I can about this... I'm used to just putting some seeds in the ground and letting nature do it's job...thi t indoor thing is new to me...ive seen it done but never did it myself. thanks for letting me pick your brain!!!
