Forgot to tell ya'll I threw down a 'Fruity Chronic Juice' from Delicious Seeds since their CSS turned out so impressive despite my neglect. Got the bean in a solo cup with some 'organic living soil' from buildasoil. First time trying it. Not sure if it'll be too hot for a seedling, but fk it we're finna find out!
Sounds like a good one Ayr0n, you could be right about the soil though, you may want to cut it a bit with peat or the like. I found once I switched my seedlings to 50/50 peat/soil they fared better, doesn't burn them but provides enough nutrients to get them going/rooted.

You're using the promix BX for your peat right? Seems like a hell of a deal, could really stretch soil further for not much added expense. Only thing that concerns me a little is the 'wetting agent' ...whatcha think about it?

The wetting agent is a good thing. I'm a pro-mix grower and I'll tell you one thing about it, when it dries out it actually repels the water. I use a sticker/spreader every few waterings to combat that. Trust me, you want the wetting agent. I don't know if the wetting stuff is organic like you like but the "BX" is the pro-mix with myco so it must be organic compatible. Maybe that'll set your mind at ease.

That's exactly the one I use, the Pro-Mix HP with the mycorrhizae, switched to it about a year ago, just mix it 50/50 with local triple mix and it makes a great medium. Not hot enough to take you through flowering without supplemental feeds but great for seedlings, clones and veg.

So what's the deal w/ taking clones / cuttings from flowering plants - they still root at the same speed, but don't generate new growth as fast cuz they have to transition back into veg right? Or do they take longer to root too? Just wanna get a feel for how long I have to wait before bringing them into a lower humidity environment w.o them getting droopy n dying. It's super dry n my tents right now, so the dome is required. Didn't have room for 1 of the cuttings so it got left out of the dome n was laying on the ground within 12 hours lol :X whoops.

I've never taken clones during flower but in make sense that it would take longer to get going because as you said they have to make the switch from flower to rooting then to veg. I've seen the result of taking clones 2-3 weeks after the flip and they make some really nice bushes just add an additional 10 days to the time. @Sativied showed me some really nice pics of what happens. Pretty cool

I've found they take longer to root by a few days, so typically 12-14 is good roots, with the MC clones it seems to take around 15-18 days. Then they take about another 2 weeks to settle into re-veg. I add about 2-3 weeks from cutting the clones for timing.

Thanks guys. The new cuttings were in good shape this morning. really perky, haven't noticed any droopiness yet. On the CSS cuts I removed all the flowers and only left a couple small fan leaves at the top node. They seem to be doing good so far. Just to be safe I used rooting gel on the monster crop cuts, hopefully that'll cut some of the time off the rooting process. I've decided to start leaving the vent on the dome open a little from day one, so they still have high humidity, but fresh air exchanging constantly without me having to remove the dome at all.

Also threw the flowers in front of a heater on a paper plate overnight to sample them. Prolly be kinda harsh, but it felt like a waste to throw away n 1/8th just to take 2 cuttings lol.

Alright couple more troll posts n I'm gonna retire from forum fuckery and get back to boot camp. I still have a lot to learn. Any books, threads or websites you guys would recommend?
I highly recommend "How to Troll the Trolls" by Mr. X. Trollface and "Reverse Race Baiting" by Dr. R. Bait.

Seriously, sounds like a good plan, easy to get sucked into and waste time on RIU nonsense. As for other websites, you could check out the stickies in the other larger grow forums for example. If you're going for mj specific books, I recommend going for at least 2. MJ botany by RCC and Mel Frank's mj grower's guide both contain useful info. I also browse gardenweb.com occasionally, not for cannabis specifically but they run into similar issues of course.

Back to basics, sit in the background for a bit, easy to get sucked into useless threads ;) When I'm researching or looking for opinions on something, I sub to a bunch of threads/sites on the subject and just do some background reading. No particular sites, I just Google the subject matter and follow any links that look alright. Tons of info, just have to sort through the crap and refine your searches, there is crap out there! I'm a data/facts guy, I'll read papers/studies before threads or magazine articles if available.

That's nearly verbatim to the advice I give when people ask me for good breeding books. It's sort of controlled and targetted yet oldskool web surfing. Pick a subject and stick with it for a while, but occassionally branch off to topics that provide more background.

You guys mess around w/ the google search operators at all?

I do yes. Mostly site: and +"keyword" to make it mandatory, handy when using multiple keywords. I suggested the site: search in combination with Google images many times to diagnose plant problems based on pics across several cannabis sites. I also use the minus operator occasionally if the search results are cluttered with non-relevant results. Like adding -"cannabis" -"marijuana" to whorled phyllotaxy or just to see how common certain terms are outside the cannabis industry, for example: https://www.google.com/search?q=-"cannabis" -"marijuana" defoliating

The site: prefix also works with the * wildcard, for example google soil ph site:*.edu
Probably the best suggestion I can give. Quite a few colleges and universities across the globe that offer free lessons or entire courses, often with pics, videos everything. Here's a great example of something I found, on a Hungarian university, wanted to read a little about plant stress, but notice the index on the right: http://www.tankonyvtar.hu/hu/tartalom/tamop425/0010_1A_Book_angol_01_novenyelettan/ch04s05.html

And then there's: https://scholar.google.com which contains the less pleasant to read results but mostly hard facts and not someone's interpretation.

so i gave those css samples off the cuttings to someone to sample n they assured me tht if thats premature and quick dried flowers then the finished product will be some str8 up fire. just what i was hoping to hear ;)

fingers crossed tht the monster crop cuttings pull through. They actually look better than the newest set of cuttings I took from the vegging SBA, so that's making me kinda optimistic about their survival lol.

I'm quickly running out of space for more plants, gotta make a decision on which strains to let go of but I'd really like to test them all before pulling out the axe, n that's not gonna be possible for a while. GG 1 is hardly started, GG 3 is at least a couple weeks out, the SBA could probably come down today but I'm trying to hold off for a couple more weeks on her, and the CSS is up in the air at this point (looks like it's close, but not quite there). Gonna be inspecting/observing trichs on a few of em soon
