caterpillar induced bud rot

Yup, I found the bugs on mine and they were turning it to mush. I used something from Home Depot with .02 pyrethrins and they are still gone. A few buds I harvested apparently had eggs cause I opened the curing jar to burp and a baby moth flew out. I'm going to spray anything that still needs a little time with Safer 3 in 1 to make sure I have no surprises.

Imagine me, a noob, with one eye almost buried in the jar trying to see if there was any sign at all of mold and being startled as hell.. It was funny and at least it proved there were indeed caterpillars laying eggs so your diagnosis was right.

Donkey, my experience with caterpillars is that they will turn spots to mush that pretty much falls off to the touch. It's not a powdery. You can see the affected spots because the leaves/calyxes change or look wilted or sick and to the touch it pulls right away from the rest of the bud. I think it's best to remove the spots so you know what you're dealing with. HD sells Garden Safe Fruit and Vegetable spray that worked for me and is .02 pyrethrins and Lowe's has an organic Safer Brand 3 in 1 that says controls caterpillars, mites and mold. Both control for one to two weeks so you could stop a week or two before harvest even though they are both supposedly safe to use up to day of harvest. I would rather they have time to wear off the plant though.

ya i got some of this shit too, i havnt seen any caterpillars, but i think i did see some eggs. the buds are hangin to dry right now, i picked most of the spots off, if not all, but theres no way it could spread or anything right.

if you get most of it out and you are now drying then you should be ok.

you can use iy up till a week before harvest
but to be extra safe spray them down with water (right at sunrise so it will dry fast) the day before harvest

I'm having the same problem and there shit is all over my buds as of 3 days ago. Their poop looks like very small or little pellets and/or balls. All caterpillars do is eat, eventually deteriorating all your buds.. , as often as they eat, they poop. And the whole point of a caterpillar's life is to eat and prepare for metamorphosis. So, if the only thing a caterpillar does is eat, its expected to poop a lot! And for those users saying its eggs caterpillars don't lay eggs.. here are some options that could help eliminate those little fuckers Bt, sm-90, organic caterpillars killer from home depot, tobcco mix( not cig mix) and I hear some foliar or light soap mix spray could also work
