Frost Warning Tonight What Should I Do???

It's going to get down to like middle to low thirties tonight.....
Should i try and cover my outdoor plants there all 6 to 8 feet tall and some have been flowering for over a month..
is it going to hurt them
i read somewhere that pot can live throu some frosts...
Just wonder what people think i'm about to go into the woods and try to construct something to cover them up w/ that's around nine feet tall in the middle of the night lol....
 
We had first frost last night got to 25 F.Glad I dont grow outside.As long as its not a hard frost they should make it.Hopefully you grew near tree coverage that will hold some heat in and keep some frost out. If not covering will be tricky as it makes them easier to see but would help.Your call help keep frost off or risk being seen??????
 
use a sheet an throw it over the plant..come back in the morning...but like ff said it may not affect the plant at all..but it will soon...peace

I was watching the news and they said that you can go out early and wash the frost off...
can i just throw a couple bedsheets on top of them or do i gotta stake up poles and make sure the sheets arent resting on my plants??

A trash bag will work fine
 
i went with every bed sheet in the house on the quad and tried to cover them... It's like a 20 foot sqare patch w/ a 6 foot tall chicken wire fence around them.. The fence dosent move any more so it was like impossible to cover them w/o draping sheets on them which bent them over alot coz of the weight of the draped sheets.... alot of the colas are already pretty heavy... It just wasnt working
i'm worried gonna set my alarm for 7 and go wash the frost of them and hope it dosent stunt there growth...
 
hahah i was thinking about building a big ass fire lol...
read somewhere that they use christmas tree lights on lemon and orange trees wish i had a power source closer i would do it...
there in the middle of nowhere tho lol

NO!!! NO FIRE!! I had a 2 foot plants once and my neighbor lit a fire and the smoked smothered the plant and it died instantly!!! FIRE BAD IDEA

Im not an outdoor grower but that seems like a bad idea.

Here are my thoughts

First what is frost? Water in the air (humidity) freezes and becomes heavier than air so falls to the ground. To me it would seem very unwise to go early while it is still freezing, mist the air giving it more surface area to disapate heat faster, therefore freezing it on your plants. I personaly would not spray them at all. Also a bed sheet allows air through, therefore moisture. As it absorbs water it will freeze. I know they sell plant protectors for frost and it is basicly a trashbag with a small frame.

Again, I am not an outdoor grower.
 
Frost is good. we leave our plants during the frost in canada. and aparently the cold temps make the buds more potent. i think its just a myth. but makes the hair turn purple.

With a rolled up news paper NO, BAD :lol: They would not have frost warnings if it was good for the plant. Just being that cold is very bad.
 
No actually he is right, when i grew outside i would leave my plants in the first frost and cut em all down right before the dew hit. When it gets extremely cold, the plants realize its time to start producing as much as they can before they die to try to get fertilized and they just take off in a matter of a few cold days. Time and family tested technique, produces very nice results.
