Okay, so I have 2 very healthy NL fem's. One is in a 1 gallon pot and another is in a 5 gallon pot. I have the garden space to put them in the ground, but I don't know how I'm gonna transplant the 5 gallon without harming any root structure.
Any thoughts or suggustions?
+rep for pointers!:eyesmoke:
Last pic is for the dank Maple Leaf Indica I'm enjoying right nowbongsmilie

You would have to be very steady; and if you still feel you cant quite pull it out and put it in the ground, you could take a razor and be very careful and cut the 5 gal off it; I had to do that once due to me not knowing what i was doing :bigjoint:

Can the pot be cut? Do you have a lid that would fit over it?You cloud make a hole in that lid,cut to the center and widen an opening for the stem.It will fit around the plant like a collar.Tape the cut with duct tape for stability. Wait until the soil is slightly dry and pulling away from the pot for easier removal.Get a helper if you can,or a waist high table barring that. You and the helper do this: The helper turns the pot over while you support the lid with your arms. The dirt will rest on the lid,the plant will be upside down. That way you don't pull and tug at the dirt and cause it to crumble or damage roots. To plant, flip the plant and dirt into a prepared hole, remove the lid, and plant as usual. To do it by yourself, take the plant over to a waist high table, wrap one arm around the pot,and support the lid with your other hand.Carefully turn the pot over so the lid rests partially on the table,to the stem of the plant. This frees your other hand to gently shake and tap the container. When the plug of dirt begins to come out, support the lid again with your hand, and pull the bucket up and off.Toss it aside for now,and support the lid with your arms and hands, slide the weight slowly off of the table, carry it to the hole, flip and plant.Hope that helped.

Put the pot on it's side, slide the plant roots out onto a garbage bag(not in it, you could use a tarp, just a sheet will do, 'double ply' might be good, though). Use the garbage bag to lower it safely into the hole(sort of like a hammock?), then 'slide' the bag out of the hole. Viola.

take a paper plate cut a line from the center of the middle all the way to the edge. In the center of the plate kind of make a hole big enough to go around the stalk. Now best to do this when plant sopil is dry and lighter. Place the plate upside down around the plants stalk so it now covers the soil and plant is coming from the middle of the plate. Now carefuly turn the pot on its side while holding the plate close to the soil do not break the stalk. might need help on this. you have to get the pot flipped while your hand holds the plate around the plant and get ready as you will be holding all the dirt in your hand as a dirt ball. squeeze the pot around til the dirt comes loose and the entire thing slides out. Its a pain but the plant is to small for the usualy way

you also know if planted in that pictured garden they will engulf that whole area and those other plants will be under them and dead?

That's kinda what I said...I was gonna say paper plate, but I figured a plastic lid would give it more stability........:peace:

lol dig a good hole and fill it with a good soil amendment and read FDDs threads and you can grow some big outdoor plants. He used like 20 gallon pots and gets lbs per plant his usually seem to be 12 plus feet tall and at least that big around..hell he uses a washing machine toi make his hash

damn! I'll have to check him out. I've seen some of his advice to others. Seems pretty knowledgeable.

I don't know man, I think I'd wait a bit before transplanting. I'd be afraid that the dirt wouldn't keep it's form and just crumble when it came out of the pot.

Some people who are much more experienced then me seem to have given you some good advice, but personally I'd wait until I could see the roots starting to curl around through the holes in the bottom.

you really only want to transplant when the roots have reached their max, but before they're totally root bound. let that plant grow for awhile longer, and transplant it when it's about 2-3ft. allowing the roots to fill the space, you can take out in one shot without hurting them.

also, transplant a day or two after watering. you don't want the soil sopping, or too dry... right in the middle.

Why not wait until they get bigger, you could dig the hole and place the pot in the hole, until th plant out grows the pot

So I gather from everyone that I should wait at least another month? I'm not quite sure what 1kooguy means...
