2 weeks later my soil is ready!! Like a fresh rain in spring it smells wonderful and is light and fluffy

This time it was expensive because I had to buy worm castings so total cost for 50 gallons of soil about $60
I will put my soil to the Pepsi challenge with any soil manufacturer. :finger:

Base soil - A lightweight medium blend of 50% Native Compost and 50% 3/8" Pumice

Other nutrients:
N Guano (Mexican Bat Guano)
P Guano (Jamaican or Indonesian Bat Guano)
Cow Manure
Worm Castings
Oatmeal
Dolomite Lime
Alfalfa
Magnesium

Just want to sit there and play in it!!

It is a mix taken from alot of forum posts which say the same thing. No one can take credit except the farmers/horticulturists over the centuries that came before us.

My point is not to imply it is my design but to impart that people should make their own soil it is cheaper and you get a product that is balanced specifically to the needs of the plants.

I just choose the guanos over the meal mixes and other ferts as a personal prefference for NPK.

prettygood texture but the material need to break apart when pressure is applied it looks like it needs to compost longer to break down those larger pieces of wood and such. but the darkness is very nice. i use bag mixes that have all the ingredients that i would use normally. i compost/treat it for several months with compost tea.

NUTRIENT, PESTICIDE AND SOIL MIXTURES
SOIL COMPONENTS:
ROCK: perlite, vermiculite, gravel, green sand,
INERT:peat moss, coco coir,
FERTILIZER: worm casting, manure/guano, bonemeal,
my soil mixture tends to have a little bit of everything I will usual use a versatile organic soil that comes in a 20lb. Bag such as roots organic, or ocean forest in combination with a pH balanced peat-moss find it in a bale I recommend pro-mix or b-cuzz. I mix at a rate of 1 20lb. Bag of soil, 1 20lb. Bag of worm castings to half a bale of peat-moss. That is 2 bags of soil and 2 bags of worm castings to 1 bale of peat-moss.( I also mix about ½lb.- 1lb. Of dolomite lime in the mix to balance pH another note is that I will add about 4 cbft of both perlite and vermiculite to the mix)

No the large materials are by design.

That is what helps stabilize ph and will allow me to put strong teas with out burning the plant. It is all about the humice balance; with an active medium rich in humates you can pour in strong nutes like guano teas. The humus will allow the nutes to be taken up through the roots, even at high ppms.

In addition it is good for drainage preventing root rot all the while holding just the right amount of moisture for up take. Take a minute and read Organic Matter see all the benifits.

person , you have done a hell of a job reading and learning your dirt ! thats beautiful dirt porn and i will agree that your mix is better then anything on the market!

great fuckin job!

think the big dog was saying as well, perlite, vermiculite or something. soil really packs down after a month or 2.....peace

Brimick perlite and vermiculite are just rock or blown rock. I have something like rock called 3/8 pumice which is gravel and rocks that fits through a 3/8 screen in addition I have large compost material as well.

I realize alot of people read these forums over and over again and regergitate information; however, that does not mean it is the only way. I prefer to use what nature uses in soil seems to me it has been working for a billion years no sense in changing it now.

While I read alot from MJ forums I also read even more from other farm and horticulture sites the information is similiar but much more diverse and in depth.

Well I was agressive trying to maximize and made it a little hot I see some small tip burn as the roots reach the new dirt.

Curling on one plant and a need for more a lot of mag showing def in leaves.

One plant just praying for mag slight tip burn.

Two others a couple leaves with tip burn and light burn it shot up so fast.

The are all going nuts and now that they have gotten use to the new mix I started adding some wc tea with some alfalfa and a little voodoo juice for inoculants.

Added couple buckets of dirt and rabbit poo mixed with straw to the mix letting it sit. The straw will help with water, soil compaction, and organic material to break down while the poo is just non-hot nutrient goodness with a ton of microbial life.

Not really.... Seems like your just pedaling water!

Does this seem familiar Cyrus?

in my experience simplicity wins over complexity in organic soil mixes

also, guano is pretty fierce. i've never mixed it into the soil; only fed as guano tea...

The plants are now going nuts!! I should have cooked it about a month or two to give the Dolomite time to become available still adding epson for mag and there is alot in the mix all ready.
