Split my stem while tying down, fuck!

One of my biggest girls now measuring 32" is in 1st week of flower so I was doing a little tying down tonite and not even pulling that hard and sure enough, snap! The main stem where I topped over a month ago split in a half going about 3 to 4" down, its was heartbreaking since I've been growing this beauty since the beginning of January. I somewhat closed up the split with some twist ties and cloth straps. Do you think my girl will be able to repair herself? Any tips on trying to help her heal? I was going to use tape but figured I would try and use some ties and force her to repair herself a little more naturally. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks-Ds
 
I've had ridiculous (unexpected to me) results with duct tape, broke of a branch down to a small piece of 'skin'. Stem might be more challenging especially if it's largely hollow, Just remove it after 5-7 days when it's healed. The point of the tape is to keep the fluids flowing and preventing the inside to dry out.

3-4" is more than I ever had to repair though. Good luck man. (next time pinch it a little so you control where it bends, up to 90degrees even).

1 week in flowering, if that's 1 week 12/12 she's still growing, so maybe consider it topped once more?
 
Tape is fine.. I have a small roll of Window Calk that workers great, its like playdow that does not dry out, or like chewed gum.. Works good, but tape workrs well too.

Just happened to me,, Buds just starting and I broke the main cola clean off, no putting it back on.. the plant now is in week 4 and is doing great or better.. I was un happy, I no longer am. It did not slow down the growth very much and bushed out.
 
grafting tape and toothpicks works, just make sure that the phloem and xylem are as close to being lined up as you can get them

Nurseries are guaranteed to... Home Depot or Lowes may have it.. but I hit the nursery close to me as they're generally better on prices for plants and supplies both.
 
Wrap it with one layer of duct tape then strap it back together with some cable ties (zap straps, tie wraps). She be back to normal in no time!
 
Get an old women's nylon and cut it into strips. Breathable, soft and stretchy. Works perfect.
 
2.5 mm electrical wire works good , unwrapp weekly because it gets grown in to the stem if you leave it , snapping is no biggie tho , Iv done it a few times , plants seem to grow healthy
 
I see alot of peoplea having this problem. When you LST after topping, Don't pull the branches outwords. Cross them and make them the other way(like in X shape above the point you topped).
 
yep check this coil a piece of wire arround a object slightly bigger than the stem so its like a spring now slowly spin it onto the branch in affected area then tape to keep in moisture...next time pull down slowly with weights or pinch twice at the x and y axis or north south east west then tie dwn...good luck OFTR
 
I did that yesterday, tied down the branches, and pop! Split right in two. Luckily, it only went about 1/4". A piece of coat hanger tied between the two limbs, and it's good.

It looked healthy when I checked it out last night so hopefully all is good. I might tie down a few others with hemp string and some nut and bolts at the end to weigh some of them down. Figured that would be better for the plants. Should of lst'd a while ago, I went to long into veg and now they're huge. Good problem to have.
 
In my current grow i managed to split my trunk about .75" vertically. a little duck tape and within 2 weeks it was better than before. So dont worry about it. just join the 2 and stick it together. gl

Yes, there's a method to really strengthening your stems if you're extremely careful as to how much pressure is applied... it's not a well-accepted practice as it can do irreparable damage to the plant and potentially kill it, but it solidifies the stem in more than a few ways if done properly.
