Nutes to Use

Ok, so this may be somewhere on the site, but I've yet to read a straight up answer to this - other then 20-5-5 and 5-15-15. My first semi attempt at this yielded horrible results. I think it was mainly do to lack of nutrients. So I've got two questions here.

1) What nutes would you buy to use during the veg. cycle using soil?
2) What nutes would you buy to use during the flowering cycle using soil?

Examples like :

Fox Farm Big Bloom, Fox Farm Tiger Bloom, Fox Farm Grow Big, Fox Farm Beastie Budz, Open Sesame, Cha-Ching, Peace of Mind Fertilizers, Cool Bloom, Mexican Bat Guanos, B'Cuzz Soil A & B.

I know all these have to be used at different points of the growing cycle. And some of the names on there seem to make it obvious, but I want to ensure this is done right. Which would you combine for answer number one and number two? Also, I've seen several people saying that they use sugar during the flowering process, what exactly does this do? Add to the taste?

:joint: Thanks a lot guys :joint:

Hey GREEN,

I know this is gonna sound sick.. BUT i would use MG nutrients..... and I would not use any nutrients in VEG... 'cause I only veg for 14-21 days.... and the soil I se has plenty of nutrients for VEG stage....

The most important element is the PH.. are you pHing your water?

MG as in using some Epson salt? Are you saying use this during the veg stage or make sure I use this during flowering? What soil are you using?

As for the PH, no I didn't test this the first time. I have a few more seeds germinating right now. I'm going to ensure it's done right this time around. Picking up my 400 watt HPS today. That should be enough for two plants eh? I'm also thinking about adding some CFL's to it as well.

Thanks

Ahh, ok - LOL! Damn I'm stoned!

Yea, I'm using Scott's right now. I'm gonna try some other stuff when I go to the Hydro store today.

I'll be making a journal and adding pics as well.

Thanks guys

But I'm curious too about what nutrients to use too. I don't know if I should stick with the Fox Farms stuff. or if there is an easier system. or if you even need to go so in depth with the Nutrient feeding schedule. I havent used the open sesame, beastie blooms, and cha ching. Its just seems like so much extra work in conjunction with the other 3 products.

If your going to the Hydro store get Fox Farms Ocean Forest..

Yea, I've heard good things about that stuff. I was gonna get some type of Fox Farms. Also like they mentioned above, MG should work just fine. I don't know if this is true in my case because I screwed up on my first attempt. I put the seedlings through a bit of stress and I think they were goners once that happened.

I think you probably should go in depth on the nutes. You will probably end up with a lot better bud. Treat those girls nice and they will end up doing the same for you.

I was gonna maybe try this for a soil mix:

60 percent soil

15 percent perlite

10 percent building sand/masonry

10 percent worm casting

5 percent pre-mix (nutrients such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium)

True, but this would be my "own" mix. I could go the Fox Farm route as well.

I just started reading your journal. So you had good results using CFL's during vegging? I've heard that's all you really need during that process. But more light is always better.

For Veg: Peters "Jack's Classic" 20-20-20.

For Bloom: Peter's "Jack's Classic Bloosom Booster" 10-30-20.

Never exceed 1/4 strength. Marijuana LOVES these nutes.

Here's where to order: Jack's Classic Plant Food from J.R. Peters, Inc., Fertilizer Manufacturer - Jacks Classic

Right on, I'll check those out.

If you want a killer "do it yourself" soil mix ... ask me and I'll give you the reciepe.

Sounds good...what do you recommend?

I'll try your soil pre-mix suggestion and also, roll with a Fax Farm fert to see if there is noticeable difference.

Thanks :joint::joint:

I've also been thinking about getten a CFL setup like this:

Do you guys know what those double light sockets are called? Is that basically an adapter that plugs into a light socket for expansion? I looked for these at Home Depot and Lowes - NO LUCK!

I wasn't able to pickup my HPS light setup today - THEY WERE CLOSED!
I will try again tomorrow. I can already tell that the lights I have now, just aren't going to cut it.

Here's the ballast I'm thinking about getting:

Sun System Grow Pro

This should be plenty for one to two plants, eh?

Thanks.... :blsmoke:

Yea, that sounds about right. I searched Google images on the name and nothing came up. Some stuff did show up on just the word search though, but nothing related to buying one locally or online.

Vi's Killer soil mix:

2 parts of Schultz's Potting Soil Plus.

1 part Perlite.

1 part Vermeculite

1 part Worm Castings.

Add one SMALL handful of Granulated Dolimite Lime per 2 gallons of mix.

You won't need any nutes with this mix for at least 30 days.

The lime keeps the PH stable throughout the grow.

Thanks Vi, I'm going to give your mix a shot. What do you think about starting my seeds out in a fiber pot? Ever tried that? Or should I roll with a little planter with your suggested pre-mix, then transplant later to a much bigger pot with the same pre-mix? Any problem with using the same pot from start to finish - a real big one?

Thanks a million guys :joint:
