[TD="class: alt1, bgcolor: #F9FEE5"]This is my first indoor grow, and I believe I have enough research to begin this minimal (4-5 plant) adventure. I'm only growing enough for personal use, and I don't have a whole lot of money to work with--plus a very small grow space. I decided to join the forum to get advice from seasoned growers, as well as to document the process over time (with photos).
With that said, here is where I stand:
I have 2 x 26w (100w incandescent equiv.) GE Energy Smart CFL bulbs.
4 (maybe more a little later) small sample cups with pete moss pellets.
Strawberry Kush seeds
I germinated the old fashioned way with plates and damp paper towels, and then placed the taproot end down about 1/2'' into each water saturated pellet. I poked holes in each cup to allow drainage for now. I have lined my small, 30'' x 26'' space with aluminum foil to provide ample reflection for now. I know I will need to take it higher up the walls when things start to actually grow. I would say i have from floor to ceiling to work with--but I would like to keep it all on the shorter, stockier side. I have one 26w CFL 2'' above 2 cups (4 cups = 2 26w CFLs). I will provide the pictures at the end.
So far, I am planning to go hydroponic with a makeshift setup I will construct from a rubbermaid tub, holes in the lid with the netted pots, aquarium rock medium, 2 hose aquarium pump w/ 2 bubbler stones. My nute plans are to use 12-4-8 (w/daylight CFL) for veg., and 10-15-10 (w/soft-white CFL) for flowering. I will definitely need more light when things get going, but as of right now I have just cups and pellets with the two bulbs. I have the pellets perched up on shoe boxes for now until I get things going, so forgive the shotty set up.
I achieved germination about 2 days ago, and I haven't gotten any sprouts yet. My lights have been on the pellets for 2 days now with no signs of sprouts. I take it that the sprouts will occur in a few more days?[TABLE="class: tborder vbseo_like_postbit, width: 100%, align: center"]
