Female Plants

The first early flowers (Preflowers) tend to appear after 4 weeks in a growth phase. The first flowers are very small, so it is easier to study them with a magnifying glass or the like. Take it easy, any male can not do any damage if the flowers are so small that they are difficult to see.

As you will see on the pictures below, the female flowers are small pear-shaped cones, where it grows one or more white hair. These hairs are using the plant to catch up with pollen. It is not certain that the white hairs growing out right away, do not kill the plant too early, some confusion early female flowers with male flowers. Wait to do something dramatic until you are absolutely sure of gender.

Male Plants

Male flower most closely resembles a cone, which later will hang on a little stem.
Male flower opens (as a "normal" flower) when it is ready to supplement pollen.
There is no pollen from male flowers as long as it has not opened up. If in doubt, wait until you are sure.
