My First Grow. Need Advice

I came across a beautiful Bubba Kush seed that I germinated between to wet paper towels for 48 hours. That was ten weeks ago. It just sprouted it's first white hairs confirming its gender as a female. I have a basic set-up, low-budget $75 at local Home Depot. Just the one plant in a broom closet (2'x2') with foiled walls (2 the walls I covered with the mylar sunshades for car windshields, third wall is painted white with one of the lights hanging on it and the door is painted white. 2, 2ft. plant&aquarium flourescents, (15w) One about 4in. above plant, the other nailed vertically on wall level with plant approx. 8in away. 12 hours on/12 hours off digital timer (12am-12pm light on) schedule. In Miracle Gro potting soil (70% Miracle Gro Soil 30% Miracle grow Perlite for the medium). I water when the soil goes dry 1 inch deep and spray 1-2 times daily, only using distilled water with a 6.5 ph level. Closet is kept at consistent 78 degrees. I don't have any way to measure the humidity at the moment. I also need to add some kind of fan for air circulation. So far everything seems to be going pretty good, (would like stronger looking stems) just looking for any advice that might improve this grow. Thinking of trying some nutrients since I just entered flowering, maybe big bud, or bud candy....Anyone else use these products, did you get the desired effects??
 
Learning alot of new terms too as I research, When is "topping" a good idea and what's the best way to do it?? Also been seeing alot of people talking about "flipping" plants when they reach a certain height, Is it necessary? What kind of benefits if any?? Well hope somebody out there can answer these questions, thanks for looking everyone.

first time using big bud started about 2 weeks ago with monster bloom
 
i top at the fourth node .just take snip plant above 4th node or whatever node u decide if u mess up u still have a real good chance of it topping

I got the biggest Buds,roots and density with both Big Bud and Fox Farm Beastie Bloomz..Back in the day I used Joe Weider weight gain but it left an aftertaste.

Ok, Well Im growing the one plant at the moment, This will be the mother. Is it too late to top since she is already flowering? Is it ok if i don't top at all. just wait til I got clones??

Cool, Thanks for the input. I just ordered som Big Bud off Amazon, hope it gets here quick. She's already day 3 of flowering
 
ok your 4 days into flower if your gonna clone do it now....after u harvest u wont have to worry about topping it trust me lol..if its gonna be a mother after u harvest u gotta revert it back to veg.....Im glad your learning what new words are on here and that u are asking questions thats a PLUS , but u gotta read alot more .....look up topping tecniques and how to revert a plant .also look up how to clone...and im not telling u that to be a dick but u got alot to learn in a short time i mean u still gotta learn when your shit is done and when to chop..also how to cure so u got about 2 months start reading and post questions GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Well put, I have always wanted a qoute to put in my signature and now I have one.
 
First thing, your buds won't amount to anything under those lights. Waste of time. How are u going to keep it as a mother when its already flowering? Why would u top it after harvest, the plants dead. Read faq
 
One thing I noticed, & maybe you should think about it if you decide to try this again sometime.....You only filled the container 1/2 way with soil....You should fill it to the top, if for no other reason (there are other reasons) then to give the roots more room to develop.
 
ye need more light, big bud nutes wont do fuck all with out more light.youll only get tiny nugs with that set up.

Easy DIY. I made this for my seedlings/future clones. Used a 2' section of ducting($3), two 42w CFLs ($11 a piece), 8' power cord ($5), and a dual light-socket assembly ($7). For one plant this would be better, but you can get bigger CFLs that'll fit standard sockets or even make a couple of these. Got my mats from Menards. Hope this helps ya. Happy growing!
