FFOF/seedlings

.

From the number of posts we see with people burning seedling in FFOF I say no. I would start them in a 20 oz cup of Pro Mix then transplant to a 6" pot of FFOF after a week or two.

.

Could I use peat pods to germ them, leave them in the peat pod for a week, while watering, then put peat pod in the ffof?

I've done the peat pod into FFOF, and straight seed into FFOF. I have never burned a seedling either way. I'm sure some strains are more sensitive but mine have never had an issue. I hear their Light Warrior is good for seedlings. I also hear that is is just FFOF with more perlite mixed in.

Thanks everyone, when you germed in the peat pod did you place to peat pod in the soil as soon as the seed cracked? I'm trying to avoid buying any more items if i can, already purchased ffof, 4" inline fan with carbon filter, 150watt hps, and fox farm nutes. Lol i went from 3 cfls to all that due to this site and all its friendly informative members. :)

Sounds like you're moving up! Don't worry, you'll never stop buying grow equipment.
Just put the expanded peat pod right into the FFOF. Its roots will be able to handle the food by the time the escape from the peat.

I love you all. Thanks. Im starting with unknown bagseed first, just to make sure i don't f anything up. Then i'll be placing a order with attitude. Tonight im going to get a ph tester and a temp sensor, then im good to grow. When germinating in peat pod, should i keep it in the dark till it cracks or immediately put it under the light?

I stick my seeds right into a ffof mixed with organic conditioner that contains bark, peat moss, and so on I just started this on my second grow and my babies are 10x better than before I have no issues using ffof for seedlings and I wait to put it under light till I see the first set of true leaves

Mix half ocean forest and half light warrior in a cup, place seedling, water and cover with clear plastic or humidity dome, light or dark as long as the soil stays warm and moist they always pop up and no transplant shock from pre-germ

FFOF is fine for seedlings IMO, I dont know how people burn plants in it. Germ first then plant and FFOF is good for 30 days.

I agree i think the ppl who burn there seedlings in FFOF germinated in it . After you start them in a peat pod or rapid rooter they have established roots that can handle the soil . I have done it either way though I think it does have to do with how sensitive the strain is.

i always use the paper towel method and then plop my germinated seeds into ffof w/ 20-30% perlite. then water deep once right after planting. seed sprouts in about a week. personally i think this is the easiest part. this has worked 100% of the time for me.

How far into germination are they when you do that, i.e. sprout size from the seed etc.? What organic conditioner would you recommend?

agreed i either use jiffy pellets or rapid rooter plugs then straight into ffof never burn

I started white widow in FFOF and it was going to burn it to a crisp. I had to take the poor girl out of her home. I put it back into the FFOF after about a week. See the ends on the first pic? The green one was I think 2 days after I changed dirt.... Some can take it I would say WW cant.
