If you put it into flower now you will have a nice plant. Waiting longer will just increase the physical size. The amount of time you veg is determined by the breed of seed and experience growing it. Your better off with a shorter veg for Sativa vs Indica as Sativa grows much taller than Indica so the bottom of your Sativa will not get much light.

So it depends on the light you are using.

1000w will give you good light for 3 feet to 4 feet. So if you veg a Sativa for 6 to 8 weeks so it is 2 feet tall by the time you get to 8 weeks you will have a 5 to 6 foot plant that gets no light for the bottom 2 to 3 feet.

600 and 400 much less.

Peace

i always like putting sativas in my indoor grow early that way i can kind of control they're size and they don't out grow my space

Those plants look nice. If i had an indoor grow, i would put my plants into flowering when they're 20-30 cm tall, even if they're sativas. Come on, sativas can grow around 2 - 3m at good conditions, i think it's not necessary for indoor grows
