Cloning Experiment In Progress!

Well I now have four males and I wanted to practice cloning with the males before messing with my girls, since I do not have any rock wool or rootone etc I'm trying something that I found here on this site, cloning using only water, check it out.

I put one clone in straight water and the other with water & MG, I took some after pictures, check them out,

I have one question, since the clones are in straight water would it still be a good idea to get the tops wet by spraying them once in awhile?

I recently started a grow journal, check it out,

Wish me luck!

I found some root hormone at Wal-mart the other day. That seems so much easier then the glass of water method . I think its easier to cut them at 45, dip in root hormone, and plant in soil with a little more humidity.

That top picture looks good!

Thanks but I don't think you read me correctly, I stated that I do not have any rootone/hormone therefore this is an experiment .. only for practice, remember I'm using male plants, I will get some root hormone and rockwool asap and do it right, believe me .. I don't want to hurt my only girls and not get anything out of it.

The picture that inspired me says you are able to root clones using straight water and the poster stated that it only takes longer, so I figured what the heck I have time, I'm bored/eager and have four males why not hack them up use them for practice rather than putting a bullet to their heads, I would also like to ad, is that I used MG knowing that it's probably not a good idea, however I want to see for myself, why all the extra quote? waste of space.

thats right humboldt,im practicing 'fim' lst' topping' andcloning aswell with my males,i got lst and topping and im about70% successful ith cloning right now,so by the time i know i got def fems,i'll be pretty fucken good with it ,i havent tried this method of cloneing but i think i'll try it right now, lol, why not.....ras

Putting them in water works just fine, just make sure the first 3-4 days you keep the humidity up between 95-100%, you can do this by putting a clear plastic cup on top of them and spraying a little water in the bottom of the cup before you put it on there. And did you ever figure out what color temperature those cfls were?

Hell yeah good ideas, I just got done topping and cloning one of the males, I think I will try the lst method next.

Thanks for the tips, I immidiently put a plastic container over them after giving them and the container a good spray of water, but I'm thinking that the container that I'm using is to frosty may not be getting enough light, please see following pictures and let me know if what I'm using/doing will work, also would it be effective if I pumped fresh air into the container using a pulsar pump or not?

Oh I almost forgot, I did not find the temperature, apparently I vegged with the wrong bulbs (soft white) so what I'm going to do is get some daylight bulbs and replace every other one that I'm using now, or I recently learned of cfl flood light only nine dollars at costco's, I may buy a couple of them to add to what I got.

Again thanks for the tips and comments guys!

That should work good enough since clones dont need that much of an intense light until they are rooted, and at that point the humidity dome will be gone anyhow bc they'll be ready to start vegginn. Dont know if that makes sense seeing as i just harvested today. :joint: But anyhow only leave that humidity dome on for the first 3 days then kinda prop it up with something so the humidity will drop some, then a day or so later lift it up even higher. They like less humidity as they are getting rooted. Are you getting an hps for flowering?

sup, another guy who has a male on his hands and is currently experimenting with it. i've already done lst, topping, lolipoping, cloning and even tried scroging with this guy. gonna do fim and them try to keep it in permanent veg state(like a mother plant with a male).

heres some pics of my cloning:

homemade dwc for cloning.

took some more cuttings. this is the plant as it is now.

this is a older pic, cut off the top half that was showing early developed male parts. reveg'd the bottom half that didnt show sex yet. the white stuff is styrofoam. killed it when it looked like it was gonna bust his nuts.

Nah I'm not getting an hps this round as I'm still trying to gain experience and what better way then by using cfl's, I'm saving up for a 400w hps complete system but I'd like to see what kind of yield I'll get using only cfl's first.

Yeah I'm thinking i'll keep at least one male around to pratctice on until I feel comfortable enough to take clones from the girls.

Here's an update on the clones,

They seem to be staying alive and the one in the green somewhat clear cup seems to be doing something as far as rooting, the tip of the stem where I cut/slices they are starting to spread apart and looks like something starting to come out, it's kind of hard to see and I'm afraid to open the others to look at them, I will just keep them going and if the one that I can see if roots actually take off then I will check the other as long as they continue to look healthy.

I also removed the males from the females and put them in the veg/cloning room, they where cramping up my girls, needed to give them a breather, I had too many plants in that little space and not enough fresh are/oxygen for them all.

It's been pretty stressful keeping these plants alive with what little I know and with what I've been working with, it's been fun though and if I make it through this round the next should be much easier.

I recently started a grow journal with updated pics of my grow rooms, check it out,

Well the clone in the MG appears to be dying as expected but I still have hope for the other two, they are still looking good, and I got some rootone I plan on trying some girls in dirt, also I still plan to start flowering this weekened, If I screw up on the clones I would still be able to take some more clippings within two weeks into flowering.

Geeeze I hope I can get this cloning down:roll:

Well I put the male clones in water on the back burner and went ahead and took five clippings from my two girls, two off a bushy bitch and three off a tall and narrow, I used rootone and dirt for medium, I sure hope things went ok, here are some pictures,

Rootone scares the hell out of me, read the caution!

I'm not sure how good rootone is but I have heard that it works well, however I do not like the caution on the bottle it frightens me and made my job more difficult, also it's messy as hell to use, next time I think I will use a liquid solution and read the bottle/package better.

Oh does anybody know how long I should keep the dome on for clones in dirt, should I continue spraying them twice a day, how wet should I keep the soil and is it normal for clones to bend? .. like lay over.

Any advise or opinions are quite welcome!

Just make sure you take a shot of the Rootone to build tolerance. You'll do great inthe soil ;)

I went ahead and took two shots hope that helps,

The clones are looking healthy but are doing some crazy stuff, they are bending, twisting and laying down, is this normal or are they dying? I cut up straws to try and lift them up out of the dirt.

Anything on this would be appreciated!

i dont know how old your cuttings r but yes once you take a cutting and stick it in dirt or a medium it will wilt over to the side......as it gets 24/7 light it will start to get back up to the way it looked before u wilted it......you should buy a humadome they r only 4-5 dollars very cheap.....gl
