ninja-like stealth, my first time

alright guys, i'm posting this in the newb section cause i'm new, so take it easy on me. i feel like i'm ready, but at the same time, kinda jumping into it. it will definately be a learning experience for me, but hopefully i end up with some quality smoke. this has to be a very quiet operation, if you guys even knew half of my situation you would think iwas really crazy for doing this, but i'm sick of paying outrageous prices for less than adequate smoke

so here i am, i got a 45 gal below a 30 gallon which houses the adjustable light reflector six 23 watt, and two 45 watt, my calculations tell me i got roughly 15000 lumens give or take.

i'm gonna use the warm spectrum thru the whole grow, starting with bag seed, and will probably add two orange crush clones as soon as gender shows with the bag seed.

all i have right now is jiffy mix for seedlings, shultz bloom fert.

my intake is an old kerosene heater blower blows into the top far left of the bottom tote. exhaust goes out bottom right side tote thru an old air purifier/ionizer

i,ve had everything running now for about two hours, and the thrmometer reads 82*f with humidity below 20%, i know that i will need to raise the RH, but how?

as soon as i get everything running smooth i will germ seeds

It's funny how I can think of something about your grow just by reading about it over here lol. Ok so am i right in thinking that both your intake and exhaust are in the bottom tote right next to eachother? if so then you might have a problem with getting a good exhaust system running and pulling the skunky smell through your filter. I'd say make both the bottom holes intake and make a place for the exhaust on the top. since stealth is def an issue u might be stuck but thought i'd throw my 2 cents lol.

Another thing, your prob smart to make sure it runs smoothly before germing some seeds. I on the other hand checked the box out for only a few hours and germed some seeds the same night. I just wanted to get started and was very excited lol. well I will def be watching and hoping everything goes well.

O and I don't think I would think your crazy becasue of your situation becasue I am in sorta the same kinda situation. Su[er stealth and can't get caught. LIke world would end if caught. that's why i shair it here with everyone instead of bragging to my friends lol. peace for now...rambeling sorry

yeah man your right on about needing to exhaust out the top, i'm gonna have to spend some money on one of those small bathroom exhaust fans, and hook up some type of DIY carbon filter to it, i have to get another roll of aluminum to finish lining the totes, and while i'm at it i'll get a small humidifier too. It's just gonna put me behind a few days. but i'll feel a lot better to know that everything is running the way i need it to.

NOTE TO OP>

Thers nothing stealthy about a power strip and a bunch of plugs/timers etc hooked up in your closet lol.. Also cords running into your closet through under a door etc are not stealthy either.

yeah, you make a good fuckin point there my friend.

the clothes cover everything up pretty good, that black cord you see runnin along the floor is actually where the cable comes in for my tv. when everything is runnin its super quiet. but yeah, it would be obvious if someone were to peek behind the clothes, but as long as they cant smell, hear, or see light back there, they dont have any reason to be in my room let alone my closet.

but thanks for stoppin in anyway see ya later

i know my set up dont look like much right now, but its making progress. and instead of a bathroom exhaust, i've got one of those window fans i'll put on top with a carbon filter underneath it. i never really thought of exhausting out the top because i thought the light reflector would restrict air flow, but maybe i'll drill a few holes in it, that will help pull the heat from the lights.

inside the grow area i have 4 cups with jiffy premium seed starting mix,for the bag seed, light schedule will be 20/4, once the seedlings are big enough i will go 12/12 till i determine sex. males will be disposed, the ladies will be transplanted, into 1 gallon pots, lights will go back to 20/4, two, third generation orange crush clones will go into square netted baskets with air hose from 20 gallon pump in sponge underneath 2/3 compost, 1/3 perlite. bag seed will be in that mixture as well, but without the forced air. i got this idea from a guy named natmoon, calls it air basket (biggest buds i've ever seen)

It's all good if it's going to take more time to get things rolling. I know it takes money and time and stealthability lol. Your on the right track just take it slow and do it right lol. peace for now...i'll be watching. I'm def interested in seeing how your forced air thing works out

okay, here is my improved set up.
i got a 4 pack of those furnace filters for 2.50, activated carbon was 6.49 a bottle. i put the carbon in between all 4 filters, cut out a hole in top lid and taped filter to underside of lid, fan fits on top.
on the bottom tote i removed the air purifier and covered the hole it was in with some type of filtering fabric i had in the basement. i cut the front side of the tote so that i can access the grow area more efiecently, i placed a humidifier on the left side and strategically placed two small fans to increase air circulation. lined both totes with aluminum sheeting and duct tape, drilled holes in light reflector to pull heat up thru it

i plugged every thing in and ran it for two hours, the humidity increased from under 20% to 38%, but i'm still having heat issues, it was at 86* when i shut it off. i dont know what more i can do right now. but i have to get the heat down before i can start growing.:wall:

any ideas?:bigjoint:

nice...
(did you read the post on the nirvana extortion?)
ya turns out that after i posted that i noticed that you posted one saying what it was...i have a bad habit of forgetting to hit the next page button.....

I like the set up...take any ideas from my set up??? lol I like the lil peek door and the screen over the intakes very nice. :bigjoint: as for heat are you using just aluminum foil or what? I can't tell from the pics but if so that could be causing the issue because the foil reflects more heat then light. Use emergency blanket (mylar) or just go ahead and paint the inside of the tubs flat white. For my set up I painted the insides black to block the light and then lined the walls with some mylar. Hope this helps...;-)

for your heat problems its all about your intake/exhaust.. i had temp problems, and switching to PC fans took me down about 10 degrees! your setup is bigger than mine so u would need like 2 for intake and 2 for exhaust and higher speed as well.. im not for sure this would work for your setup.. but its just a suggestion... my first setup was just like yours.. with rubbermaid bins but i switched to a smaller setup to utilize the lighting i had, plus i only grow a few plants.. the pic is of my new small setup..the light box raises when the plants get larger so it doubles in size.. fan on the bottom is intake and top is exhaust.. pc fans are powered by cell phone chargers.. im not sure if this helps you out at all.. im just putting it out there for u.

dude, thats a nice ass micro set up.

i did think of comp fans, but did some reading and their not very good at exhausting, pulling air thru a filter, which i absolutely need.

hey bro, just out of curiosity, how much weed do get from your set up?:leaf:

no, it's not foil, just regular aluminum sheeting. but i wonder if that could still be the problem? will really suck if i have to pull it all out again:cuss:

it depends if i get 2 females.. i plant 3 or 4 plants tops and hope for 2 females.. the box fits 2 females comfortably, ive never gotten 3 but i would assume id need to get rid of 1. i try to keep the plants about between a foot and a foot and a half... so with 2 females i can get almost an ounce but usually like a half ounce.
