Can someone explain to me how to hook up a pc fan???

The red one is positive, and the black one is negative. Hook them up to whatever 12 volt supply you are using, and they should spin. If they don't, swap the wires around. :-P

it doesnt say, it jus has a red and yellow wire, do i need an adapter? if so what would it be called

if you ahve a PC power supply, you can just take the biggest bundle of wires and cut the green one and a black one then tape em together. when you plug it in it will automatically turn on. then just plug the fan into the PSU.

if not, something like a phone charge will do. check teh specs on it.

A switchable DC adapter will work, as long as it has a 12v DC setting. Also, some mobile phone chargers are 12 volts, and adapters for many household things. (my modem, for example). You can also use a PC power supply, but you have to bridge a connection on the motherboard plug to do so, and it will be overkill unless you are running lots of fans.

DO NOT DO THIS>>>>>>>>>:dunce::wall:

In that case, the adapter I linked to will do just fine. You just have to chop the small plug off it, and attach the fan wires to the place where the plug was. If it doesn't work one way, just swap the wires around.

just use any 12v adapter... like from a old digital camera, adapter for an old cordless phone? any kind of charger for anything (check the specs) like the guy said from a modem some phone chargers might work (but didnt for me) i just used a 12v adapter i used to fuck around with to charge small batteries when i was younger lol
