I am having a problem with a few of my plants . These plants are an unknown strain they are 8 week old clones which i transplanted into larger pots of soil recently. Afew are showing what appears, according to the plant problems thread, to be a magnesium deficiency. My question is if I misdiagnosed this issue and add the recommended amount of epsom salts to fix it could i be causing it any problems?
thanks

prob not.

just to be safe in the future, always use less chems than are recommended...can't hurt anything that way.

.

If there is already a good amount of Mg in the soil and it's locked up due to too much salt in the soil or the pH is too high/low adding extra Mg and salt could exacerbate the problem. Since you just transplanted it's probably not too much salt, but it could still be a pH issue.

If you could post some pictures it'd be easier to diagnose.

Good luck!

Epsom salts can be used two ways - via a root feed and via a foliar feed. Foliar feeding is perhaps the fastest acting way and of course would not leave any excess residues in the soil.

Give them a foliar feed of 2% Epsom salts solution just after lights out. Don't foliar feed if they're currently in flowering though, due to the risk of mould.

Also be aware that plants take in water via foliar feeding so be careful with the amounts you water after foliar feeding and reduce down slightly to prevent over-watering.

thanks i will try foliar feeding 1 of the worse off plants with a 2 % epsom salt solution if it works i will use it on all if not i know it is something else. i will try and get pics up but my camera really sucks and it would be too fuzzy to be of any help they have not started budding yet but i did switch the lights to 12/12 last night

just an update the epsom salts worked well for me i used a spray bottle with a very dilluted solution and now aside from some of the leaves that were beyond repair that needed to be removed i have very healthy plants growing at an alomst dangerous rate:mrgreen: This website has helped my growing potential an enormous amount. Most of the stuff I did with my firtst couple of grows were ass backward and although i am only about 10 days into flowering I can see that this "harvest" will be much larger thank you

i hav the same prob with 1 of 4 of my plants they got feed an waterd at the same time only 1 has went yellow 4 a few reasons mg def, an my ph levels were off im goin 2 use epson salts as a foliar feed do i need 2 add any nutrents with it ive bat gauno biosavia grow an bloom an a bio stimulant 4 damaged plants would any of these b of any use ty

I did not all i did was mix in a minute amount of epsom salts in my water and right before lights out sprayed the plants with problems and all was well within a couple of days now we are in week 4 of flowering and the once affected plants are absolutely blowing up this is not my first attempt at growing this is just my first educated grow and what a difference.:blsmoke: now if i can keep the dreaded hermies away I think this will be a worthy harvest. I cannot find the cable to connect my camera to my pc or i would have some pics up.

rite i sprayed my damaged plant with epson salts there every second day just waterd them evry other day an nutes once a week an made some extra dranage holes the damaged 1 doesent seem 2 b gettin better the hole plants like a light green colour can any 1 help with this

sorry an would this spread my other as i hav them bunched close 2 geather an should i hold of flowering untill it has recoverd

Okay, so 2% of a quarter gallon / 32 oz. is .6 oz. That's 17.7441 cc...now do I use displacement to get the measurement, or should I convert directly to 17.74 grams?

I'm thinking I'll fill my graduated cylinder with 30 or so ml of water and add salt until it gets to just under the 50 ml line, then dissolve the crystals and mix it into enough water to reach the 32 oz. Fill line of the spray bottle.

Let me know if my science is correct. Thanks.
