I don't know for sure why the osmotic flow of water, through the stems, have caused the leaves to become so turgid. Maybe it has to do with the strain or maybe the soil is warmer than the air around the leaves so the leaves are not transpiring enough to keep in balance.

Hey Masturn8 That does sound odd. You should post a picture. If it is a preflower, it sounds more like a female. The early male preflower is more like two apposing hooks. Sometimes small and hard to see.
