I recommend using distilled water. Depending on where you live, tap water is probably the worst. I rarely have ph problems.

Thanks...I'll need the luck. I pulled out the roots, and boy what a mess. I had to take a knife to the mass that was covering the pump intake. Luckily, I think most of what I pulled out was from the one dead one I had from earlier. Still, I'll be surprised if the plants recover and continue...

Take them off as soon as you see green poking up. You don't want them to grow into the roof of the dome. Fans are good.
