Hey all! I spoke with Byron at Grow A Lot and told him about this thread. He read it and got a kick out of it. In repsonse to some of the other responses up there, he had this to say - I'm parephrasing (or however you spell it).
As to him being a cop... he laughed.
As to the assumptions made...
Were those al planted at different times? Or, do you have a reflector that doesn't distribute light evenly? Looks like you have a batwing on one side (the short side) and nothing on the other so they stretch. If so, throw another batwind on the tall side and get some shorter, bushier plants.
I love Fox farm and have used them quite a bit. I also really dig humboldt nutrients (not to be confused with Humboldt Wholesale, which is another "family Hydro" front company.
I didn't say that was the reason I didn't like it.
I don't like it because they are trying to pass something offas somethign it is not. A buddy of mine is studying agronomy (I think that's what he calls it) at CalPoly and did a bunch of testing on several nutes. I sent him some thinking it was...
I used them quite a bit. i think they are pretty high quality and easy to use. I would even go so far as to say they are a bargain for their price. I just recently tried their version of "Sweet" (called Sugar - or Sugar something... sorry I'm out of it and don't still have the bottle) and it did...
that stuff is junk. it's made by the owners of "family Hydroponics" which has a bunch of franchise stores. they push it heavily because htey make it and there is an assload of markup on it. It is mediocre at best. You will get results with it, but it is way more expensive than it should be for...
some nutes affect the pH in a big way. If you are sure you are accurately calibrated, then add a little pH UP. Do it a little bit at a time and rest between readings.
The thing that kills pH adjustment is impatience. Let the additive work. Don't expect to put in a few drops and instantly...
flush it with your normal watering tomorrow. pour a bunch in and keep pouring until it comes out the seep holes. Wait 5. Do it again but this time more water. Wait 5. Do it again. Wait 5. Then do it one last time with just enough water and B1 to just start coming out of the drain holes.
THEN...
that's the meter I used to have and that's where I got it too! Best price I could find ANYWHERE - i've since stepped up to a Blue Lab and love it too.
I just found out on another thread that I know that guy (GROW-a-lot). We went to school together and were stationed together for a short bit...
