Yep, this is known as passive intake and will definitely work for your set up. As cozz said keep an eye on the temp at plant level especially with a little baby seed.

What size is your fan? I would put the fan as close to the hood as possible and minimize bending your ducting as much as possible. Each bend reduces airflow.. Also maybe run a passive intake from the floor bringing in cooler air from the outside.
