leave a standard seedless watermelon on the vine long enough and it will have seeds. if the seeds you found were black they are mature and can be planted, but since seedless watermelons are hybrids the seeds will not be the same as the watermelon you ate.

you really should not even bother with seed. most current strawberries are hybrids, every seed on that berry will be a different plant non of which will be like the parent or better. they will all suck. buy some crowns, they are cheap enough and will flower the first year. pull the flowers off...

also remember that allowing the plant to grow bigger and branch more without pinching it will increase yield (i grow my plants to 8 ft tall) also plant more than one and let them touch. I can't explain how or why it works but they like to touch.

blossom end rot is most definetely not caused by uneven watering. uneven watering causes cracking, splitting and 'hard shoulders'. calcium deficiency is the culprit. you need a complete fertilizer early on in flowering and in initial fruit developmet in order to prevent this. think of it as a...
