I have flown with up to a pound, all you need to do is have paperwork in hand and say you have medication. In larger airports they usualy call rcmp to verify your licence. This will create a delay give a extra half hour for this. It has to be in your carry on and i recommend mason jars to keep...
if you are going for taste organic soil but it is tricky too. I think you should master soilless growing (sunshine #4 etc) and then do one dwc plant while growing in soilless. once you master that one plant then switch over to dwc.
i usually use nutes at about half strength. as for lights start with one foot above plants, or hang the lights and put your hand under it at the top of your plants and if it feels hot to your hand you are to close. you only want it to be warm.
i did what lemon king said once and i did not notice any major effects, they slowed for one to two days and finished great, but it depends on how your strain can handle stress.
transplant wait till they start to grow again(almost everyone gets some sort of slowing of growth due to shock), then start feeding them their flowering program.
Do a extremely thorough clean with bleach and water. Wipe everything that was and is in the room and you should be able to fire it back up. I had 8 lights go to seed years ago, this is what i did and the next one no seeds. good luck
