Real nice. Like duder above said, put the carbon filter on the other flange on the hood and you should be golden. You may not have much smell to worry about though if it eventually vents out the attic above everyone.
N51, you mean the ballast? Could you be witnessing the almighty efficiency of the 600w configuration? :)
homebrew, that's an interesting idea. If they are stepping up/down amperage, wouldn't they also need to adjust voltage to maintain the same wattage? I'm no electrician but aren't they...
Yes that's what I was saying, and yeah it's always good to simplify.
If you have enough cool air around the tent, and enough intake surface area (equal to or greater than exhaust surface area opening), you should be good to go. If you vent this hot air to the room, expect your room temps to go up.
Are you trying to cool/exhaust the tent, or just the light?
You don't need/want a fan on both ends. Ideally, pull air through the system. In your case I'd think you should simply have an open (passive) intake, and use a much smaller 4" fan to pull air through the hood, from the tent, and...
Hey Hotwired, great info there. I looked into those Panasonics and they are perfect for what I need, ultra quiet. I'm looking at the FV-20NLF1 because I'm going to have about 10' of 6" ducting (straight line with 1 90-deg bend). The inlet for this ducting will be from the main grow room...
Oh - forgot to mention, I don't have experience with other ballasts or ballast technology, but this unit stays cool (it's self-cooled through the length of the case) and it's very quiet, almost inaudible.
Basically it's seems the Veyron of the ballast world... :-O :D
I just bought one of these ballasts as well thanks to my buddy who owns a local hydro shop. I got this one because it was the same price as a Lumatek which doesn't have dimming. He said digital ballasts have solidified after their first couple years, and these haven't broken that pattern at...
haha thanks, I have searched around for things like "cannabis leaf deformed" or "cannabis strange leaf growth" and variations of those, too many to list. Nothing really seems to match this "extra" growth. Guess I'll just let it ride since it's green and healthy still.
Just curious if this is indicative of a problem/stress or normal growth for early-stage flowering. Check out the 2 extra leaves growing from the center of this fan leaf. There are other fan leaves showing the same growth on other plants.
Shall I worry or worry not? I still don't know if these...
Just realized there are inline carbon filters out there as well, but I don't know if they'd fit between the two lights hanging in the box.
I will prolly end up using one of these "stubby" filters like the Can 50 http://www.canfilters.com/canfilters_50.html
