Well, you don't want to flower to early before sexual maturity, otherwise that leads to hermies. Usually plants get about a foot and a half before showing signs of sexual development.

Are you planting the moisture meter on the very bottom or near the top? The closer it gets to the bottom, the more wet its gonna read on the meter. Be sure to stick the moisture meter about 3 inches down and monitor how dry it is. If its getting a bit dry, supplement the plants with some water...
