Making it easier to measure nutients

Not sure if this classifies as a DIY or just a tip to make things easier. One of the problems I ran into when I started doing Hydro was pouring such small amounts of nutrients out of the bottle they came in. I only need to mix up 5 gallons of water to split between the two buckets. That works...

Where is this thread on your rebuild, be interested in looking at it.

    I'm a believer

Nice setup BF. I'm looking at building something sorta similar but it's going to be a two bucket system with a big reservoir that sits outside of the tent. Thing I still need to work out is how I get the two water lines (output, input) from the reservoir to inside the tent while still being...

    I'm a believer

I'm flowering with a 600w HPS. My photos don't have a yellow cast because I've set a manual white balance on my camera to adjust. So far I've been very happy with Botanicare Kind. My first hydro grow I started with Fox Farms but I didn't like the sediment that was building up in the buckets...

    I'm a believer

I've been a soil grower for about a decade now. Fox Farm soil and nutrients and I pretty much had the soil grown dialed in. Then a few months ago I decided to try Hydro. I'd thought about hydro before but it seemed more complicated than soil. My biggest problem with soil was that I had to...

    Looking for DWC nutrient suggestion

Just wanted to update this thread with what I finally decided upon. I ran two 5 gallon buckets hooked up to a 70/Lpm air pump. I ran two air lines two each bucket with a medium sized air-stone on the end of each line. For nutrients I went with the Botanicare KIND series. Specifically Base...

Built a new (small) system. Thought I'd share.

What are the tubes your using as buckets?

    Looking for DWC nutrient suggestion

While I appreciate your enthusiasm I'm in the early stages of hydro growing right now. For a first time out I figured that it made more sense to just start with a DWC bucket. Long term I can easily see myself upgrading to a RDWC system but I'm still figuring the best way to get the water lines...

    Looking for DWC nutrient suggestion

That may have been a problem. I just upgraded to a 45 lt per minute pump that is driving four airstones (two in each bucket). Be interesting to see if that makes much of a difference.

Should I paint the outside of my black buckets white?

Actually the plan was to use a plastic specific paint like Krylon Fusion. That stuff doesn't peel when applied to plastic.

    Cheap net pot cover

I may try that later. This is my first hydro gro and I've already reworked things completely once. :)

Should I paint the outside of my black buckets white?

So I understand the reasoning behind using black buckets because they really block the light but I worry about the amount of heat they absorb. Would it make sense to paint the outside of my buckets a flat white? That way I would keep the light proofing of the black plastic material but the...

I wanted a little more support for the plant.

    Looking for DWC nutrient suggestion

I've been growing in soil for about 10 years now and have always used FoxFarm for both soil and nutes and it's always worked well for me. I've built up enough of a stash so it won't kill me if I screw up a harvest or two so I decided to give hydro a try. My requirements were something simple...

    Cheap net pot cover

So after about 10 years of growing in soil I recently decided to try my first hydro grow with a DWC bucket. The first plant I setup I used a lid that had the net pot built into it. I decided that for my growing style it actually made more sense to just cut a hole in the bucket and drop the net...
