I agree with pooper.. Keep it simple to start. Im a fan of hydroponics to, but soil is way eaisier to begin with for all the reasons he said.

Depends on what size plants you plan on having.. But you could squeeze 10 under, just veg less..

Well 600 is just over half of 1000w.. So really it is a big step back.. But i think 600's and more efficient for sure.. You can still get good results..
