I'm a reader of a UK grow forum and their lights last more than two grows, especially if you mod them for better fans and ventilation (which you shouldn't have to do but there you go), but yeah they're not as rugged as more expensive ones.
The monitoring will be irrelevant as that's done via the fan/heater controller
The important thing is being able to custom mix the blue/red light and set the brightness of it, changing it through the day for dawn/dusk cycles, seedlings, etc.
