DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

What if you could chill your water to achieve the DO rate at 9.2 at 65-67F and then let the water warm to 75F before delivering it to your plants so the roots could absorb it better? It may get off of DWC topic but, is it a sound theory?

*Online Calc* for determining the amount of Lumens received at any distance

This calculator will tell us how many Lumens our plants receives from a particular distance. Once you know how many Lumens your plants receive at the distance they are from the light, you simply need to figure out how many square feet your plants are covering...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

So 10 watts per gallon would maybe be overkill (what I'm running is 200 watt Ecoplus Air 7 in a ~22 gallon res)...don't think that should hurt though, can't really have too much oxygen can ya?

Lumens, Lux, and Adding It all Up

So I searched this thread and didn't find anything related to PAR, or Photosynthetically Active Radiation. As Ed Rosenthal puts it in his Marijuana Grower's Handbook, "The light plants use is known as Photosynthetically Active Radiation, or PAR. Measuring quantum light is the only way to be...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

This also brings me back to my original most recent question. In a beneficial bacteria inoculated reservoir, not battling brown algae slime, but trying to fight the effects of pythium, does adding Hygrozyme present a possibility for problems? I understand that Hygrozyme creates food for...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I could raise the water temperature, I'm open to suggestions. I just already am adding thriving bennies in there and re-adding new ones every three days. So the colder temps, I'm ok with IF they rid me of the effects of pythium and the bennies work. My feelings are that if I continuously add...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

I've got plenty of tea freshly brewed and ready to go, just a day or two old. What does this "after-slime" look like? My res looks good, no cloudiness. The smell is interesting, kinda earthy, but not bad. There is a nearly a foam (bubbles) on top of the water from all of the air being...

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

The tea was brewed at 70-75F, so the bennies should be alive and well. I believe I'm battling pythium (my first words in my last post were "Battling Root Rot too: ", so 70-75F water is out of the question. I'm not sure Dangledo if your sentence referring to Heis repeating himself was meant...

If I block 80-90% of the light entering my dwc reservoir, is that enough?

DWC Root Slime Cure aka How to Breed Beneficial Microbes

Battling root rot too: So, should I use this the tea in my res with some Hygrozyme? I've already got tea in my res, but the root rot (I think) is still coming back. I know, I know- its redundant, but I don't know what else to do at this point. Yes, my res is aqua chilled to 65F and I have plenty...

So is 80-90% blockage of the light acceptable?

What about getting some Kilz primer/paint and putting a couple coats on the outside of my rubbermaids? I was thinking about the Corrie board idea and I feel like that might get in my way a bit. I think painting it would make it easier to keep clean too.

Cheers Cloners, that's a good idea. I do have something like that which might work.

If I block 80-90% of the light entering my dwc reservoir, is that enough?

I've got a rubbermaid that I've got black 6mil plastic around the sides but its hard to keep it perfectly flat on all the sides. So this makes it imperfect at getting 100% of the light blocked. Should I use duck tape (if you can't duct it, f*ck it!) and just do my best to reach for 100% light...
