I store all my humidity gauges in a heavy duty freezer ziploc bag with Boveda 62% RH. packet's. The gauges i use, i can adjust while still in the bag before i take them out, if they are off any.

I think zip ties can and will stretch over time, maybe getting weaker. There is no way i would hang a light with zip ties, with so many other options out there.

There is several different types of silica, some are pretty cheap, some are expensive. A guy that works at my local hydro store said that gh armor si, (potassium silicate) is not immediately available to the plant. He said that after about a week the roots break it down, before its available...
