I don't know how accurate this is, but if you use the program google earth, it shows you where the sun will rise and fall. The tool for it is on the left hand side, it has a sun as a symbol.

I have never had some problems with tin foil even though many people say it's not good. Also I have heard that ak47 is quite strong in smell. I also agree with the previous statement: you should really not grow pot in your parents house.

I am sure giving them misting will help. Think about a clone that has no roots, it is so happy to have that moisture on the leaf. If your roots have been dry and your plant is dry, wouldn't direct moisture to the leaf be the fastest way to give her moisture?
