you can "sex" plants using the method you described, 12/12 from seed should produce sex in 3-4 weeks sometimes sooner. after that however you must re-veg them by putting them back in the 18/6 (or similar) cycle, this however usually takes another 3-4 weeks before new vegative growth occurs...

what if the strain you dont flush is naturally more amazing than the other strains, or vice versa. that would make your results misleading. you want your control group identical to your subject group or your findings will be inaccurate. this could easily bias your opinion one way or the other...
