RDWC success - without a chiller

Tea doesnt affect the ppm. Also the GAC filter filters out enough of my city water chorine to levels that wont matter. Once ran through the GAC filter, the PPM is like 115

RDWC success - without a chiller

Ya I just built some stands with some wood I had laying around. I used to homebrew also. I actually make my beneficial tea using a stirplate and a 2L flask spinning for 24-48 hrs. If youd like the recipe/details I can DM you. Lots of hype on this forum about RO, UV, sterile, etc. not saying its...

RDWC success - without a chiller

I run tap water filtered with a $15 GAC/sediment filter from Lowes with a beneficial bacteria tea I make at 1 cup per 5 gallons. Water temps fluctuate between 69F - 76F. Healthy plants, no issues. If your water has more good bacteria then bad, you wont have any issues with bacteria.

Harvesting first grow - such a great feeling

I guess it depends on the bulkhead, but the ones I got from supplyhouse.com, I used 2-3/4 for the 2” bulkhead and 1-3/4 for the 1” bulkheads. That made them fit really snug. I also used some rubber sheet from Lowes for gaskets instead of the included ones and then sealed it all up with some...

Harvesting first grow - such a great feeling

Congrats dude, you will deffinitly love switching to RDWC. No more changing water at each bucket, you can just siphon/drain from the main res. Nutrient additions, water additions, monitoring levels, etc...so much easier with RDWC. Supplies arent super complex. A few 2" threaded bulkheads for the...

RDWC success - without a chiller

I run RDWC and no chiller. My water temps range 72-76 depending on time of day. I brew up some beneficial bacteria tea and add it 1cup per 5gal and it keeps the rot/slime/algae away. No issues.

Hygrozyme or Hydroguard (Dr.Marijane... Canadian) to tackle Brown Slime on Roots?

I brew 4 cups of tea using the following recipe and do 1cup per 5gal of water....pics of each included. This tea recipe keeps my entire system clean and healthy. Started Hydro doing this and never have had a single slime/algae issue. Also helps break down larger molecules of nutrients so the...

SCROG or LST with DWC bubble pots -- how to do it?

Check out my post on a SCROG build I did for buckets that allows you to lift out the plant with it. https://www.rollitup.org/t/scrog-idea-for-dwc.1017407/#post-15543158

    Ro water to tap

Ya no worries, just sharing my perspective as well, thats why I said if you have decent Tap. My starting ppm is about 115 and pH is about 7.5 and it doesnt take much pH Down to get it to 6.0-6.5 where it holds stable until next change. I change the water every 10 days or so. I buy the FloraTrio...

    Ro water to tap

I grow in a RDWC with dechlorinated Tap water and have no issues at all. My starting PPM is 115. Here is a pic of one of my younger plants. I run FloraTrio and CalMag with the CalMag at 1/4 dose in early stages and 1/2 dose in later stages since its tap water. I also add some Beneficial Bacteria...

    1st time DWC issues =\, root/pest

Maybe you have horrible, super high ppm, contaminated tap...I dont know. Do what works for you. Can deffinitly grow prime grass with Tap tho.

    1st time DWC issues =\, root/pest

Best entails plants grown in tap water are not as good, which is false. All RO water is doing is giving you a neutral base to start, so you can meticulously control the amounts of every nutrient/micro-nutrient. Tap water contains larger molecules of Ca and Mg for example that aren’t easily...
