Update:
Thanks everyone for your advice.
I switched to 18/6 and saw considerable growth in just 8 days, more than 24/0. I'm a believer now.
On the first of January, I switched to 12/12.
Here are pictures as of last night...
1. Three of the four remaining plants
2. My best plant...
Just do a search for the millions of threads on this topic already.
Quick tip: Google - "search term + rollitup"
(Ex: topping rollitup)
First two results ALWAYS get the info i'm looking for. (If not, take a look at the related posts at the bottom)
I tried 18/6 one day and I switched back to 24/0 because the plants were sooooo droopy when the lights came back on that I decided to stick to 24/0.
Do plants really need to so-called "breath"? I've heard people saying they vegged faster with a constant light source. Your results?
The plants were lined up 2 rows of 3 when they were in the cups. Like this:
O O O
O O O
...with a single incandescent 100W bulb hanging in the middle. I always rotated the cups, but the plants grew at different speeds.
Should I put up 4 walls of reflective material for light reflection and...
I really don't think it's root lock.
Here's why. I seeded them in styrofoam cups for 1 weeks w/ M.G. moisture control. Then, I tranplanted into 1 gallon pots with M.G. M.C.. I saw that the roots had already made their way down to the bottom of the cup. They grew in the 1 gallon pot for 3...
The attic is anything but hot.
It's connected to the outside and it's very cold where I am now.
I'm worried about my plants being too cold when I switch the lights to 12 off. (Like lower 50's) Should I be?
I think the lower leaves shriveled when I kept them under the incandescent because...
... I have left to veg these bad boys?
I germinated the seeds mid-November and kept them under a 100W incandescent bulb until the start of December when I switched them under a 400W HPS light system. Always 24/0.
So, 2 weeks under 100W then 3 weeks under 400W HPS (w/ blue spectrum added)...
That's what it is pretty much.
I've also noticed the slow leaf growth. I don't know if it's the strain or my growing technique. Probably the latter. One small bulb is not enough for 6 of these babies to photosynthesize.
Anybody have any recommendations?
That's our insulation. It's extremely shredded newspaper.
The attic is about 75 degrees (room temperature), and it's well ventilated.
I don't think that's the problem.
Hi everyone.
I'm on my first grow and everything's going nicely so far.
I germinated my seeds mid November, planted them in small cups with Miracle Grow Moisture Control, and let nature take over from there.
They sprouted in a few days and I held them all under a 100 watt incandescent light...
