Then yah it's cus you left them in water too long. I heard that the most your supposed to leave them in water is 12 hours. You should try the paper towel method next time it works really good.

I'm in florida too and it sucks it rains every day in the summer making it impossible to grow outside unless you have a greenhouse. I'm already having overwatering and mold issues.

Don't be sad make some butter or hash the heat involved in both will kill the mold spores.
